A traffic contract is a request forwarded to a network by a service that is willing to use an ATM network and wants to transmit some data traffic over that ATM network. This request contains all information regarding the type of data and information that is to be transmitted, required network services and resources, bandwidth allocation and other related elements. All the above information is encapsulated within a request that is sent by a service to the network.
