Kashoo Features
As we mentioned, Kashoo is a fully customizable platform that helps you handle everything regarding invoicing, expense tracking, taxes, and payroll processing. The app’s comprehensive dashboard gives you valuable insight into the financial health of your business, with color-coded charts and graphs that let you track every relevant detail, from net income and expenses to deposits & withdrawals and net cash total.
The best thing about Kashoo is that it lets you track all transactions by project, so you’ll know exactly which project or client is the most profitable and what business ventures might not be as worthwhile as you thought.
Here’s a quick breakdown of Kashoo’s core features and functionalities:
Invoicing
Invoicing in Kashoo is quick, easy, and intuitive. You’ll have a myriad of professional templates to choose from, which you can fully customize with your company colors and logo. You’ll be able to list all line items with their individual quantities, rates, and descriptions, choose the due date, and even include a direct payment link to speed up the payment process.
What’s interesting is that the invoicing functionality also comes with an optional email message, which allows you to further personalize the invoicing process and include any other necessary details and descriptions in the email with the invoice.

Bills to Pay
The Bills to Pay functionality is a life-saver for companies that need to manage multiple vendors. It lets you quickly go over a comprehensive list of all your vendors and see all items ordered and balances due.
While there is no option to pay your vendors directly from Kashoo, you can click on any outstanding vendor payment and manually pay each invoice. Given that you can easily connect your business bank account to Kashoo, the manual payment process is fairly quick and simple.
Reporting
When it comes to reporting, you’ll have access to a visual dashboard with all the relevant financial information. The advanced reports cover income statements, invoices, bills, balance sheets, transaction history, and more.
What’s lacking are sales reports and customization options for the existing reports, so we’d like to see Kashoo improve upon this functionality in the future. One redeeming factor regarding customization is that the generated reports can be easily exported into Excel, so you can tweak them according to your needs.
Contacts
The Contacts feature makes it easy to review all the relevant information regarding every vendor and client you work with. The list contains the names, contact information, and full transaction history between your business and every business partner and client, so it’s easy to review and sort both income and expenses from various sources.
Additionally, whenever a new transaction is added to Kashoo, a contact is automatically created, which saves your accounting department a lot of time and ensures complete data accuracy.
Payroll
Kashoo doesn’t have payroll processing capabilities, but it does integrate with a variety of third-party payroll processing services. This way, you can see all finalized payroll runs in Kashoo and keep track of payments, remittances, overtime pay, employee benefits, and other critical payroll data in the Kashoo app.
You can also manually enter payroll numbers in Kashoo as expenses or adjustments, but that kind of defeats the purpose of automated payroll runs.
Integrations
Kashoo integrates with a variety of third-party payroll processing services, most notably PaymentEvolution, SurePayroll, Paychex, and Stripe.
Additionally, the app can be integrated with your Google Workspace, so you’ll have access to your business calendar, email, Google Drive, sheets, slides, and other relevant Google apps and documents.
Other noteworthy integrations include FreshBooks, Square Point of Sale (POS), 1Password, and Pepperi.
Overall, Kashoo’s integration capabilities are quite limited, especially compared to other leading accounting software on the market. If you’re using any of the four above-mentioned payroll processing services, it can be a decent option. However, if you’re working with a different provider, you’ll still have to go back and forth between two apps and contend with duplicate data entry.
Kashoo customer reviews
Kashoo is a decent accounting app, but it doesn’t exactly revolutionize invoicing and expense tracking. It’s good at what it does, but it’s not seen as the best option on the market. Overall, the user reviews are mostly positive, ranging from 3.5/5 all the way up to 4.6/5 stars on major review sites.
Users love Kashoo’s ease of use and affordable pricing, and often highlight accessibility, automation, and invoicing templates as the platform’s strong suites.
On the other side of the coin, users complain about the lack of advanced functionalities, issues connecting projects to invoices, and occasional duplicate transactions.
What is Kashoo good for?
Kashoo is great for SMBs and established businesses that want to handle their books or move away from Excel or spreadsheets to a more organized online accounting platform that automates invoicing and expense tracking.
With Kashoo, you can easily track your finances, send personalized invoices with due dates and reminders, receive payments in multiple currencies, manage your vendors, keep track of your inventory, and generate advanced accounting reports.
All in all, Kashoo is a decent option as your first accounting software since it’s super easy to use and relatively affordable. That said, it lacks time tracking, and the reporting functionality could be improved.
Kashoo vs. Top Competitors
Here’s a quick comparison table between Kashoo and its top competitors so you can get a better idea of where the platform stands:
Kashoo | QuickBooks | Wave | Xero | |
Best for | Established businesses looking for a simple, easy-to-use accounting solution | SMBs looking to automate invoicing, payroll, tax filing, and time tracking | Small businesses with less than 10 employees | Companies looking for a robust, feature-rich accounting solution |
Starting Price | From $27/month | From $18/month | Free Invoicing and Accounting functionalities | From $29/month |
Free Trial | 14-day free trial | 30-day free trial | N/A | 30-day free trial |
Payroll | Yes | Yes | Paid add-on | Yes |
Reporting | Advanced business reporting | Customizable professional reports | Detailed financial reports | Customizable reports |
Mobile App | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Kashoo vs. QuickBooks
The two platforms are quite similar in that both can help you take care of all the accounting necessities like invoicing, expense tracking, categorization, receipt capturing, and reporting. Both platforms are also fairly easy to use, allow you to connect your business bank accounts, and let you handle your accounting on the go using your mobile device.
Where Kashoo and QuickBooks differ is when it comes to subscription packages. Kashoo offers a single subscription that includes access to all features, whereas QuickBooks offers three different tiers to choose from, depending on your needs.
If you want access to everything QuickBooks has to offer, you’ll have to pay almost double the amount you’d pay for Kashoo, but you get some advanced features that Kashoo doesn’t offer, such as employee time tracking, GST and VAT tracking, recurring transactions and bills, and project profitability tracking.

Kashoo vs. Wave
Wave is perfect for small businesses that only work with a handful of clients. This is because its invoicing and accounting functionalities are completely free, but you pay a percentage on every transaction and a flat monthly fee for payroll runs. With one or two clients you charge monthly, Wave is an extremely cost-effective solution, but the price skyrockets if you start sending a dozen invoices each month.
In other words, Kashoo is a better option for companies working with multiple clients and vendors, whereas Wave is a good starting point for startups and small businesses that work with one or two clients.
Kashoo vs. Xero
When comparing Kashoo and Xero, you can think of Xero as an advanced, though quite a bit more expensive, version of Kashoo.
What we mean by this is that Xero offers everything you get with Kashoo, plus a ton of additional functionalities that will help you automate and streamline every aspect of accounting. These include project tracking, payroll runs, automated bank reconciliation, purchase orders, quotes, sales tax, and even fixed asset management.
Granted, Xero is about two-and-a-half times more expensive than Kashoo if you want to utilize all of these features, but it’s a superb all-in-one solution for businesses of all sizes, in any industry.

How We Test Accounting Software
While the vast majority of accounting software has the same core features and functionalities, they can differ greatly in terms of pricing, integrations, advanced features, and ease of use. Here are the key aspects we focus on when reviewing and comparing accounting software:
- Pricing — How much value for money the platform offer, compared to other leading accounting software solutions.
- Features — Core invoicing, accounting, and payroll features, as well as paid add-ons and advanced functionalities.
- Integrations — Native integrations with other bookkeeping, financial, payroll, communication, and other business tools.
- Automation — The available automations, such as automated expense tracking, bank reconciliation, and late payment reminders.
- Ease of use — How easy it is to navigate the platform and fully utilize all of its features and functionalities, even with no previous experience with similar software.
- Third-Party Reviews — The most commonly cited advantages and complaints by real users on reputable review sites.
How To Choose the Best Accounting Software
Here are the key factors you need to take into account when deciding whether Kashoo or any other accounting software is the right fit for your business:
- Budget — You should consider how much money you’d be willing to invest every month and how much money accounting software would save you, on average. Also, go over all the different pricing plans and make sure you choose the one that offers everything you need in terms of functionality while still fitting into your budget.
- Features — Check to see whether the platform offers all the features and functionalities you need on a plan you can afford. Keep in mind that most of the advanced features are typically locked behind the most expensive plans, so carefully assess your needs and compare the pricing plans of multiple platforms before making the final decision.
- Scalability — Consider how easy it would be to scale the platform as you grow and expand your business. Check if there’s any limit to the number of users you can have on your account and whether you can upgrade from the chosen pricing plan to the next tier if the need for additional features arises.
- Ease of use — The main goal of accounting software is to speed up the processes, centralize your data, and make it easier to track income and expenses. In other words, it should save you time and money, so you don’t want to opt for a platform that will take months of training to fully utilize, as that will defeat the purpose.
- Integrations — Go over the platform’s integration capabilities and see if it’s possible to connect it with the tools you’re already using. For example, Kashoo only integrates with a handful of payroll processing services, so if you’re using a different vendor, you’ll have to handle payroll in a completely separate app and manually add the data into Kashoo.
- Customer support — Note the available contact options and the support hours to get an idea of how fast you can expect a response in case you run into an issue with the platform. Also, pay attention to what users say regarding customer support, both in terms of their response time and their technical knowledge.
