Here are all of the Lego Star Wars games in order, excluding any minigames or web-exclusive titles:
  • LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game

  • LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars
  • LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Best Star Wars Games to Play in 2024

15. LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga (2007)

LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga (2007)
LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga combined both releases into one huge release. Source: Steam
  • Developer: TT Games
  • Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive
  • Platforms: PC, DS, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360
  • Price: Available for $19.99 on Steam

Unfortunately, every Star Wars games ranked list has to have a bottom entry, but that doesn’t make LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga any less special. Arguably one of the LEGO games that spawned the rest of the movie tie-ins for LEGO to tackle, The Complete Saga brought in all six Star Wars movies (at the time) into a LEGO-fied format, delivering a bunch of hilarious and family-friendly moments as one of the best LEGO Star Wars games.

Playing as a variety of iconic heroes in a parody manner is still exciting to this day, and a lack of voice acting makes the comedy even funnier. The only reason it isn’t higher on our list is due to the fact that The Skywalker Saga brings in the entire nine-film saga, with plenty of improvements for the modern era. Nonetheless, The Complete Saga is still fun to play in 2024.

14. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords (2004)

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 (2004)
Darker than its predecessor, albeit not quite as memorable as the first KOTOR. Source: Steam
  • Developer: Obsidian Entertainment
  • Publisher: LucasArts
  • Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox
  • Price: Available for $9.99 on Steam

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 had the unfortunate time of being a sequel to one of the best Star Wars games in the franchise (more on that later!), but KOTOR 2 is still a must-play, despite a variety of issues plaguing the game.

The RPG keeps with the KOTOR formula by allowing players to choose their character’s path, opting for the light or the dark side of the Force. As the Sith approach to demolish The Old Republic, it’s up to an exiled Jedi to either save the Galaxy or help see the Sith take over.

Like many classic RPGs, the gameplay doesn’t hold up in the modern era. However, the story is still exciting to take part in, and finding yourself wrapped up in a galactic war feels as exhilarating as it did when it first launched.

13. Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017)

Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017)

  • Developer: Dice
  • Publisher: EA
  • Platforms: PC, Xbox One, PS4
  • Price: Available for $39.99 on Steam

After a rough launch, and one of the most disliked comments in Reddit history coming from EA, it’s easy to brush off 2017’s Battlefront 2. However, the game has improved in many, many ways since its tumultuous release, becoming one of the best Star Wars games in recent memory.

Playing on a variety of iconic planets as an average soldier takes away the fantasy side of Star Wars for a more grounded approach. Of course, you can still play as some famous heroes and villains, like Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader, but most of the time you’ll be a random member of a small team, fighting to win each battle in a galactic-scale war.

Battlefront 2 (2017) doesn’t make for a better experience than the original Battlefront 2, but it’s a modern approach to the franchise that is still played to this day.

12. Star Wars Dark Forces / Remaster (1995 / 2024)

Star Wars Dark Forces / Remaster (1995 / 2024)

  • Developer: LucasArts / Nightdive Studios (remaster)
  • Publisher: LucasArts / Nightdive Studios (remaster)
  • Platforms: PC, PlayStation, Macintosh, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch
  • Price: Available for $29.99 on Steam (remaster)

While DOOM and Quake remain some of the best boomer shooters on the market, many people forget about Star Wars Dark Forces, an excellent FPS from a bygone era. The recent remaster of the classic shooter makes it more accessible than ever.

Oozing with style and the fact that it introduced us to a character that has become a mainstay in the Star Wars franchise, Dark Forces isn’t one you want to miss, despite its 90s graphics.

11. Star Wars: Empire at War (2006)

Star Wars: Empire at War (2006)
Grand strategy games don’t get better than Empire at War. Source: Steam
  • Developer: Petroglyph Games
  • Publisher: LucasArts
  • Platforms: PC, Mac OS
  • Price: Available for $19.99 on Steam (gold pack)

Considering the political drama at the heart of Star Wars, it’s a surprise that there aren’t many real-time strategy titles in the franchise. That being said, it’s likely because Empire at War remains one of the best Star Wars computer games to this day.

Featuring a storyline mode as well as sandbox experience, Empire at War sees you battle against the Empire or the Rebel Alliance above planets or on-land in this exciting RTS game. If you can look past the 2006 graphics, you can lead your respective army to victory.

And, you can purchase the Gold Pack with the Forces of Corruption expansion for relatively cheap, giving you the full Empire at War experience.

10. Star Wars: Vader Immortal trilogy (2019)

  • Developer: ILMxLAB
  • Publisher: Disney Interactive Studios
  • Platforms: Meta Quest, Oculus VR headsets, PSVR
  • Price: Available for $9.99 per Episode on Meta

Exclusive to virtual reality, the Star Wars: Vader Immortal trilogy gets you as close to being a Jedi as possible by turning you into the Jedi. The three-episodes, despite their short length, give you access to various Force abilities as you discover a mystery for Darth Vader himself.

As you play through the story, you’ll discover what the Sith Lord’s plan is, before finding yourself fighting the most powerful Sith himself. And, best of all, each episode comes with a dojo to heighten your skills and play in a more sandbox-style way, but Episode 3 of the series delivers the most exciting dojo of them all. It’s one of the best Star Wars VR games.

While it does require owning a VR headset, you can’t get any closer to being an actual Jedi in the Star Wars universe than playing in virtual reality. We just wish it was a little bit longer.

9. Star Wars Squadrons (2020)

Star Wars Squadrons
Ever watched the movies and wanted to pilot those ships? Squadrons delivers. Source: Steam
  • Developer: Motive Studio
  • Publisher: EA
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S
  • Price: Available for $39.99 on Steam

While Star Wars: Vader Immortal may be the closest to becoming a Jedi you can be, Star Wars Squadrons brings you into the world of being a fighter pilot. With a single-player campaign following both sides of the galactic war – the New Republic and the Empire – you’ll be piloting iconic spaceships from the galaxy far, far away.

However, you can also compete in multiplayer dogfights with friends and strangers alike, with intense 5v5 space battles allowing you to show off your piloting skills. And, while Star Wars Squadrons may be one of the best Star Wars games on its own accord, it also wins bonus points for allowing those with VR headsets to experience the game in virtual reality, too.

8. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (2008)

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Set between the events of Episode 3 and Episode 4, the Force Unleashed is the ultimate power fantasy for fans. Source: Steam
  • Developer: LucasArts
  • Publisher: LucasArts
  • Platforms: PC, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch
  • Price: Available for $19.99 on Steam (Ultimate Sith Edition)

Considering the problems that The Force Unleashed adds to the Star Wars lore, it’s no surprise that it doesn’t count as canon. However, that doesn’t take away from the hack-and-slash action-adventure being one of the best Star Wars games of all time.

The story follows a Force user called Galen, who is taken in secret by Darth Vader and trained to become a Sith. Given the alias of ‘Starkiller’, Galen is one of the strongest Force users in the galaxy, and as you play as Starkiller, you’ll find yourself at the center of a Shakespearean plot of betrayal, love, and war.

The Force Unleashed offers one of the most unique games in the franchise, delivering a fast-paced and kinetic gameplay that truly makes you feel powerful. There’s a sequel too, but that’s not as good as the original.

7. Star Wars: Jedi Knight 2 – Jedi Outcast (2002)

Star Wars: Jedi Knight 2 - Jedi Outcast

  • Developer: Raven Software
  • Publishers: LucasArts / Activision
  • Platforms: PC, GameCube, Xbox (Backwards Compatible on newer Xbox consoles), PS4, Nintendo Switch
  • Price: Available for $9.99 on Steam

Set after the events of Return of the Jedi, Jedi Outcast follows Kyle Katarn, a character originally introduced in Dark Forces. As a member of the New Republic, and someone who has cut his connection to the Force, you’ll battle a variety of enemies who aim to affect galactic peace using lightsabers and blasters.

Jedi Outcast is a classic in the franchise, delivering great first and third-person combat for Star Wars fans to enjoy, with an engaging story that follows the events of the aftermath of the original trilogy.

6. Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005)

The original Battlefront 2 was bigger and better in every way. Source: Steam
  • Developer: Pandemic Studios
  • Publisher: LucasArts
  • Platforms: PC, PS2, PSP, Xbox
  • Price: Available for $9.99 on Steam

Although the 2017 game of the same name is better than the launch version, 2005’s Battlefront 2 is still one of the best shooters in the Star Wars franchise. Featuring massive-scale battles like the reboot duology, Battlefront 2’s focus on solid TPS gameplay makes it something truly special.

Not only does the vanilla experience deliver a war-like vibe to the sci-fi series, but the sheer amount of mods gives you plenty of options to give Battlefront 2 more life. It’s still available, with a decent-sized player base on Steam, but we recommend avoiding the version in the ‘Classic Collection’ that was released in 2024, as it’s a worse version of a classic title.

5. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (2019)

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
Fallen Order took the well-trodden Souls-like approach to its gameplay. Source: Steam
  • Developer: Respawn Entertainment
  • Publisher: EA
  • Platforms: PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5
  • Price: Available for $39.99 on Steam

Considering the sheer amount of planets in the galaxy far, far away, as well as the mysteries of the Force hidden beneath various worlds, it’s no surprise that a Star Wars soulslike not only works, but is exceptional.

In this original story, a youngling escapes Order 66 as his master and friends are purged with Emperor Palpatine’s plan. Cal Kestis, now an adult, finds himself hunted by the Empire after being forced into using his lightsaber. Fortunately, Kestis finds himself friends with a variety of characters in a dangerous world for Jedi.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is one of the best Star Wars games in the modern era, delivering challenging combat with a brilliant story. And, an incredible sequel is already out, if you decide to continue Cal’s adventure.

4. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (2022)

  • Developer: Traveller’s Tales
  • Publisher: Warner Bros. Games
  • Platform: PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch
  • Price: Available for $49.99 on Steam

Now, the best LEGO Star Wars game is easily The Skywalker Saga, a collection of all mainline Star Wars films in one LEGO bundle. The Skywalker Saga feels like a culmination of every LEGO game that TT Games has made prior, and brings the fun and whimsical nature of the LEGO Star Wars games into the modern era.

With improved gameplay across the board, exciting hub worlds, and the humor that everyone has come to love, The Skywalker Saga feels like a love letter to almost two decades of LEGO Star Wars.

3. Star Wars: The Old Republic (2011)

This long-running MMORPG remains incredibly popular to this day. Source: Steam
  • Developers: Bioware / Broadsword Online Games
  • Publisher: EA
  • Platform: PC
  • Free via Steam (optional subscription and microtransactions)

Despite releasing over a decade ago in 2011, Star Wars: The Old Republic is still a very active MMO that allows players to experience a variety of stories set more than 3,000 years before the events of the prequel trilogy.

Choosing between a variety of classes, either within the Old Republic or the Sith Empire, you’ll experience one of the most beloved massively-multiplayer online games in the genre, with an individual morality allowing you to craft your own story in a tumultuous era. It’s one of the best multiplayer Start Wars games available.

The best part of Star Wars: The Old Republic is the fact that you can access all of the MMOs expansions by simply subscribing to the monthly subscription for only one month. And, the game is still receiving new content and updates to this day.

2. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (2003)

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Knights of the Old Republic is the ultimate Star Wars stories for fans. Source: Steam
  • Developer: Bioware
  • Publisher: LucasArts
  • Platforms: PC, Xbox, Nintendo Switch
  • Price: Available for $9.99 via Steam

We said the first game would come back, and as one of the best Star Wars games of all time, it’s no surprise that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is near the top of our list. In fact, it’s a very close toss up between this, and the #1 spot on our Star Wars games ranked list.

KOTOR has long been the reigning champion of Star Wars games. It introduced many players to the Old Republic era of the franchise, delivering an exceptional story that feels like your choices not only affect your allies and enemies, but the galaxy itself.

It’s such an amazing game that the announcement of a remake scared fans because it feels hard to beat the impressive original. However, with aging graphics and middling combat, we believe another game deserves the crown now.

1. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (2023)

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Darker than the original, Survivor is a masterclass in Star Wars games. Source: Steam
  • Developer: Respawn Entertainment
  • Publisher: EA
  • Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5
  • Price: Available for $69.99 via Steam

Considering the success of its predecessor, it’s amazing that Respawn Entertainment was able to take the criticism of Fallen Order on and make a sequel that not only improves in almost every way but introduces some interesting mechanics that make it the best Star Wars game.

A few years after the events of Fallen Order, Cal Kestis and his crew have split up, and the Jedi is fighting the Empire as a resistance fighter. However, Cal finds out about a hidden planet that can be used by the Jedi to hide from the Galactic Empire.

Jedi Survivor does some brilliant things, improving on the combat while keeping Cal’s progress from the first game – no random power wipes here. The story is heartfelt and feels wholly unique in the long-running franchise despite following many familiar themes. We hope that Star Wars Outlaws is just as good, but in reality, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor feels worthy of the top spot for years to come.

Other Star Wars Games to Play in 2024

Of course, we can’t rank it just yet, but the first open-world Star Wars game is coming in the form of Star Wars Outlaws, delivering a bounty hunter-style experience that should keep fans of the criminal side of the franchise happy. The Force Unleashed 2, while not making our Star Wars games ranked list, is still excellent for its fast-paced hack-and-slash gameplay.

The rest of the LEGO games are equally amazing, despite only the Complete Saga and The Skywalker Saga making the top 15 best Star Wars games ranking above. Finally, many of the older Star Wars games are great to see, like Super Star Wars, as a way of seeing the start of the franchise in video game format.

The Bottom Line

There are plenty of Star Wars games spanning multiple genres to enjoy. While the open-world bounty-hunting story of Star Wars Outlaws is exciting enough, if you prefer FPS titles, RPGs, or hack-and-slash, there are plenty of options for you!
