Active ICOs Explained
Initial Coin Offerings, often shortened to ICOs, are the stage of a crypto project’s life cycle when they are first introduced to market and public investment.
Similar to an IPO on the stock market, active ICO tokens are available to purchase at a set price but not yet available to trade via an exchange. ICOs are usually offered as a way to build capital for the development of the project and generate hype in the wider market.
Investing in the best active ICOs can be a great way to generate profits as they usually offer tokens at a lower price than when they eventually are listed, sometimes allowing for near-instant profit, as well as investing in a high-potential project ahead of the rest of the market.
Tamadoge is one such example of an ICO where early investors could secure near-instant profits. The first stage of its presale had TAMA tokens on offer for $0.01 but by the final stage they were priced at, and listed for, $0.03.
That meant profits of 200% were available as soon as TAMA reached exchanges. The token later pumped all the way to $0.194, almost 2,000% more than its ICO price in just two weeks.
Ethereum is one of the most famous examples of a successful ICO – after being initially offered to the public in 2014 for just $0.31, ETH reached a peak price of $4,878.26 in 2021 – an increase of 1,573,532% in just seven years.
NEO is another example of a hugely successful ICO, even though the token is currently 95% down from its all-time high price of $175. NEO tokens were first offered at $0.03 and are currently trading at around $7.20 at the time of writing, almost 24,000% in profit.
However, the active ICO market is an extremely high-risk/high-reward space to invest in.
While other projects have proved bona fide credentials over time, active ICOs are brand new cryptocurrencies with untested utility, no established market and added risk that the project is an outright scam.
