A startup is a company in the early stages of business development. For some companies, the startup phase of a company may last years. The startup culture in Silicon Valley led to many of the advances in Internet and computing technologies that we enjoy today.

Startups were integral to the development of Silicon Valley and the technology sector in the United States. Successful Silicon companies greatly increased the appetite for technology and tech companies. Although the startup phase is still difficult, tech companies in the U.S. have some of the largest venture capital pools available for funding.
