Techopedia Explains Hard Drive Shredder

For large-scale destruction of electronic data, hard drive shredders may be used as an alternative to digital wiping or cleansing of hard drive components, or to “degaussing” or the use of magnet technologies to try to scramble the data resident on a drive. In general, hard drive shredding is a method that requires greater physical resources and more care to prevent hazardous electronic wastes.
