Techopedia Explains SAP Integration Adapter

SAP IAs are connectors providing cross-platform message conversion and system translation of connected SAP environment applications. SAP IAs work with SAP exchange infrastructure (SAP XI) and NetWeaver.

SAP XI provides platform-level OS connectivity. SAP IAs ensure that messages are conveyed via understandable formats. SAP IAs use an XML schema for cross-communication, meaning each message is mapped according to the recipient’s platform compatibility.

SAP IAs include Simple Object Access Protocol, Java database connectivity, common object request broker architecture, Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication, PeopleSoft and Siebel.
