Techopedia Explains Virtual To Virtual

The V2V process is implemented and managed through a virtual machine manager (VMM) or virtualization hypervisor. V2V works when the complete VM image data is copied and transferred to another host machine, which may be a VM or physical computer/server. Similarly, each newly created and hosted VM instance may be swapped between different backend hosts.

V2V is also used to create VM and VM data backups for disaster recovery and other types of restoration needs.
