What Does Electronic Business XML Initiative Mean?

The Electronic Business XML Initiative (ebXML initiative) is an international initiative, which both the United Nations Center for Trade Fascilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT) and the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS) launched and worked on collaboratively. This initiative acts as a joint project between UN/CEFACT and OASIS, sharing the same overall scope and purpose, major results and the duties handed over to the ebXML working team known as the ebXML Working Group.

The ebXML initiative is aimed at providing an open technical platform through which XML can be applied in a reliable and standardized manner to serve electronic business transactions in all application categories. These categories are application to application, application to person and person to application transactions.
