Definition - What does Tooway mean?

Tooway is a satellite broadband Internet service provided in different European countries for home and commercial Internet access. It is a bi-directional service that enables its users to connect with the Internet from remote locations.

Techopedia explains Tooway

Skylogic, an IT firm based in Italy, introduced Tooway in 2007. It uses Internet Protocol (IP) to provide connectivity. The Tooway solution focuses on connectivity for remote areas, where public switched telephone networks (PSTN) and physical telecommunication lines are not available.

The complete hardware set consists of:

  • An outdoor satellite dish
  • A receiver
  • A transmitter
  • An indoor ViaSat modem

As of 2011, providers of Tooway broadband offered up to 10Mbps/4Mbps, that is, 10 Mbps downloading and 4Mbps uploading.
