Information Security Analyst

Definition - What does Information Security Analyst mean?

An information security analyst is an individual that reviews and analyzes IT environments/infrastructures for information security design, implementation and maintenance-related processes.

Information security analysts review IT environments for security needs and requirements, and provide their insight into implementing and improving the information security architecture of an organization.

Techopedia explains Information Security Analyst

Information security analysts primarily review a business' information security requirements, threats and vulnerabilities, and recommend security measures that can ensure the best protection. For example, for an e-commerce platform, an information security analyst may recommend having a web application/website firewall to protect back-end servers from penetration and intruder attacks.

Information security analysts generally have a good understanding of business domains and strong skills and experience in designing, implementing, maintaining and analyzing information security in IT infrastructures.
