Techopedia Explains Remote Backup Software

Remote backup software primarily bridges a connection between local network/IT environments with a remote backup location. The backup data is copied on a scheduled or specific routine by the backup software and is transferred and copied to the remote location over WAN, Internet or VPN connection.

The remote location can be private or public cloud storage, managed or rented data center, or a similar managed storage facility. The remote backup software can copy and restore backup data from the backup location to the local network/system when required.
