[WEBINAR] Application Acceleration: Faster Performance for End Users

Definition - What does Sensorization mean?

Sensorization is a buzzword to define the extent or the trend of embedding as many sensors as possible within a device or appliance.

It defines how consumer technologies such as smartphones, tablet computers and smart TVs are integrated with multiple sensors and/or sensing technologies.

Techopedia explains Sensorization

Sensorization mainly came into forefront after the launch of iPhone smartphone, which was embedded with many sensors. Sensorization is primarily concerned with how a single device is embedded with sensors, and newer sensors are continuously added over time.

These sensors can include anything, some common ones being:

  • Touch sensors
  • Motion sensors
  • Accelerometers
  • Gyroscopes
  • Compasses

It is also the phenomenon of sensorization that has led to the development of many games and applications that utilize features of the native sensors in a device.
