What Does RenderMan Mean?

RenderMan is a software package produced by Pixar that has
provided the basis for graphical animation in many popular films over the last decade. RenderMan was a proprietary tool until 2014 when Pixar decided to offer a free non-commercial version of the software.

Techopedia Explains RenderMan

The RenderMan software works with a RenderMan Interface Specification that defines elements of three-dimensional scenes according to proprietary 3-D modeling concepts. RenderMan works with the concept of geometric primitives and modeled polygons to create sophisticated 3-D imaging. Users may add capability to deal with color and shading techniques, displacement mapping and other details.
