Techopedia explains Web Texting

Web texting is a useful service that has developed because of the popularity of mobile devices and smartphones. Before the modern smartphone, Web texting did not happen very often, because the phones did not have sophisticated display and short message delivery systems. Now, texting is a very common method of communication. Having Web texting services allows people to make the transition from a desktop to mobile device, and vice versa.
