In an IT context, 24/7 support means a support service that is provided 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. This may include an array of IT services – like server monitoring, call center support, database support and so on. This support generally includes support for those services that require running without disruption and downtime.

24/7 support is a kind of support that is available throughout the day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. This simply means that the technical service is available around the clock. To provide such a seamless support, various methods are adopted:

  • Well-coordinated shifts – Various 24/7 support providers make use of properly coordinated shifts with dedicated shift staff.
  • Geographical settings – Others make use of geographical settings, such offices make use of staff from around the globe in different time zones.
