Spain becoming second favorites to win Euro 2024 is the most dramatic odds swing, while many of the changes elsewhere are more marginal.
With so many major teams still in it, all the best Euro 2024 betting sites seem to be sticking to their guns.
That will all change abruptly once the Euro 2024 quarterfinals take place and we’re left with just four countries who could win the cup.
Quarterfinal Favorites
With most of the pre-tournament Euro 2024 favorites still very much in it, we’ve taken a look at the top four countries – and assessed their odds at the Euro 2024 quarterfinals.
England
The Three Lions came into this tournament as hot favorites and, based on their Euro 2024 quarterfinal odds, that’s still the case – but they look a nervous bunch.
Gareth Southgate’s men managed one win and two draws against relatively tame opposition in the group stages.
In their favorable round-of-16 match-up against Slovakia – a team currently 45th in the FIFA rankings, one place below Algeria – they salvaged a 1-1 draw after a world-class moment of individual brilliance from Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, before edging it 2-1 in extra-time.
England are on the easier side of the draw and will avoid most of the favorites until the final. If they’re to make it that far, they need to start bringing their A-game.
Their struggles are reflected in their odds of +126 to beat Switzerland in regulation time on Saturday.
These seems like fair odds and they could be generous if England find their mojo. If not, a double chance bet could be a nice saver.
Spain
The one team that has very different odds at the Euro 2024 quarterfinals compared to the start of the tournament is Spain.
Spain were the only team to win all three group games, taking maximum points as they bagged six goals from six different scorers – before thrashing Georgia 4-1 in the round of 16.
One of the stories of the tournament has been the emergence of Lamine Yamal, the record-breaking 16-year-old Barcelona star who has played a key role in Spain’s exciting brand of attacking soccer.
They’ve already moved from fifth favorites to second. If they can eliminate the hosts in the Euro 2024 quarterfinals, will they move into top spot?
They are narrow favorites to beat Germany on Friday but this game is too tight to call. Definitely one to sit back and enjoy, but if you’re really looking for a bet, player prop bets on the likes of Rodri or Yamal to score anytime could be interesting.
Given the number of different players that have scored for Spain in their first matches you can bet two or three and hope just one of them scores to make yourself a profit.
France
Expectations were very high as France came into Euro 2024, but so far they’ve failed to light up the pitch.
Star striker Kylian Mbappé broke his nose in his first match of the tournament, causing him to miss the second before returning with a protective mask. He scored a penalty against Poland but has yet to score from open play at Euro 2024.
Austria ultimately topped Group D, leaving France in second and placing them on the harder side of the draw. They’ll now have to face off against Portugal before playing the winner of Spain vs Germany – and then there’s the small matter of the Euro 2024 final.
All eyes will be on France’s massive Euro 2024 quarterfinal fixture against Portugal which pits Ronaldo against Mbappé, neither of whom have yet scored from open play in the tournament.
Given Portugal have had a hard time of things as well, it’s hard to see them overcoming the strength of the French, even if Mbappe and his men aren’t playing well. Odds of -150 for France to advance to the semifinals looks a solid bet.
Germany
If you didn’t catch their round-of-16 match against Denmark, a 2-0 win probably sounds comfortable. It was anything but.
Moments before their goal, Germany conceded to the Danes and were only saved by an offside call against Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen which came down to near-microscopic levels.
At the other end of the pitch, the home nation were awarded a penalty for hand ball which felt harsh, as the Danish defender (Andersen, again) seemed to be in a natural position.
Towards the end of the game, Germany threw wave after wave of attack at Denmark and reminded everyone why they’re such a threat.
But the hosts have been exposed a couple of times now – they needed a. 92nd-minute equalizer to avoid defeat against Switzerland – and many will fancy Spain to continue their winning streak at the Stuttgart Arena.
