NFL Wildcard Weekend Picks and Predictions

To provide a little inspiration for the weekend ahead, we have selected two NFL Wildcard picks – one for the opening game, and one for the closing showdown.

Houston Texans vs Cleveland Browns Pick

Little under three weeks after the Browns won their fourth game in a row against the Texans with a 36-22 beatdown, they enter as 2.5-point favorites for this Wildcard Weekend opener.

Star quarterback C.J. Stroud was missing that day for Houston, and his return to the fold will shake things up in the offense. However, despite the obvious impact the Rookie of the Year favorite has had in Texas, there are a collection of stats that jump out the page.

Not only does he rank eighth in terms of most sacks taken this season – even having started just 15 games – but the Browns defensive unit is particularly stout.

In fact, Jonathan Greenard and Myles Garrett both finished in the top 10 for sacks, and will look to nullify Houston’s main offensive threat on Saturday.

Pick: C.J. Stroud Under 245.5 Passing Yards @ -110

Philadelphia Eagles vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers Picks

The Eagles found themselves in an uncontrolled tailspin to finish the regular season,  losing five of their last six games.

Had it not been for their strong early-season form, they may have slipped out of contention had the season continued any longer.

They head to Florida as slight favorites, although they are tasked with defeating the Bucs who cemented their status as one of the NFL’s in-form teams towards the close of the season.

It is no secret that Philly are vulnerable through the air, conceding the second-most passing touchdowns this season.

The Bucs can utilize their home advantage and spring a surprise on last year’s Super Bowl runners-up.

Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Win @ +142
