Reviews of the Best Arizona Online Sports Betting Sites
Now that we know what welcome bonuses are available it’s time to go a little deeper to see what other features the best AZ sportsbooks offer. Below, we’ve listed the top five offshore online sportsbooks in Arizona and why we think they’re worth a punt.
1. BetOnline – The Best of the Best
- Payout time: 1-2 days
- Established: 2004
- License: Panama Gaming Authority
- Headquarters: Panama City, Panama
- Available in Arizona: Yes
Our Verdict: 9.9/10
With its enormous selection of betting choices, BetOnline is, without a doubt, the best sportsbook in Arizona. There are 25 league/sport options available at this bookmaker including the NFL and NBA as well as a few niche sports such as darts and volleyball. You’ll even find markets for entertainment and politics.
When it comes to bonuses you’re also well covered with several welcome offers to choose from. There are also regular betting tournaments and deposit reload bonuses of at least 25% for existing customers.
Some things could be improved, such as the lack of real-time streaming. It would be nice to see debit and credit card fees removed, although there are free crypto banking options. Even with these minor niggles, BetOnline remains the best Arizona sportsbook on the market.

- Payout time: 1-2 days
- Established: 2023
- License: Curaçao
- Headquarters: Curaçao
- Available in Arizona: Yes
Our Verdict: 9.6/10
BetWhale is another relative newcomer to the AZ sports betting scene, but one that impresses nonetheless. As one of the best AZ sportsbooks, BetWhale offers a great range of bonuses and promotions. This includes a 125% match bonus on your first deposit.
BetWhale has tons of sports betting markets and highly competitive odds that are pretty hard to beat. You’ll find the complete range of betting types too. But perhaps the best feature is live betting covering all major sporting events.
We’d like to see a few more banking options made available. That said, the instant payouts more than make up for this minor setback. With top class customer support, this is one sportsbook in Arizona that all bettors should check out.

4. Bovada – Enhanced Crypto Promos
- Payout time: 0-1 days
- Established: 2011
- License: Curaçao
- Headquarters: Costa Rica
- Available in Arizona: Yes
Our Verdict: 9.5/10
Bovada is quite possibly the most famous of all the Arizona sports betting sites on this list and with good reason. This sportsbook has a reputation for great odds across a huge range of sports betting markets. And that’s before we even mention the user-friendly interface.
There are 27 markets and counting with a few specialist ones like esports and politics. If you like props bets, then you’re in luck. Bovada has a nifty in-house prop-creation tool to help you build out your wagers.
Bovada also offers a Bitcoin welcome promotion. The wagering requirements are reasonable, and even though the amount isn’t huge, the 8x rollover is better than most offshore AZ sports betting sites. The only real complaint we have with Bovada is the lack of ongoing promos, but the loyalty program makes up for this.

BetNow sportsbook Arizona is one of the best AZ sportsbooks in the business for markets. Every major league in the US is covered and then some. Not to mention the likes of global sports such as the English Premier League and Spain’s La Liga.
BetNow offers a variety of welcome bonuses. The 200% match cryptocurrency bonus, with a $200 maximum, is great value. And for those who prefer traditional banking, you can take the 150% bonus up to $225.
The website is very simple and straightforward which makes it ideal for beginners. Even so, it would be good to see a little more effort put into the overall design and feel of the site. A minor complaint that doesn’t take away from the overall experience.

Is Online Gambling Legal in Arizona?
Online gambling is legal in Arizona, but only online sportsbook operators are regulated by the state. Online casino gambling has yet to be legislated for.
In April 2021, Gov. Doug Ducey approved HB2772, a replacement bill for SB1797. This made it possible for residents of Arizona to bet on sports online and in person through US-regulated legal sportsbooks. This was the first time that a form of state-licensed online gambling was available in Arizona.
The law also declared the Arizona Department of Gaming the governing body for US-regulated sports betting in AZ and online gambling in general.
Even before that historic day, offshore sportsbooks and casinos regulated by international governing bodies have been available in Arizona. And since no US person has ever been detained or charged for using offshore gambling sites like the ones we recommend, they are safe to use. In other words, if you want to take advantage of the better odds and higher value Arizona sports betting promos at offshore sportsbooks, you can do so legally.
Arizona Sportsbook Apps
There are quite a few online gambling Arizona options available for mobile devices. Let’s see how these Arizona betting apps compare to desktop sportsbooks.
Desktop Apps in Arizona
Desktop sports betting makes it easy to place wagers from your home computer. All providers that offer sports gambling in Arizona or any other form of gambling will have a desktop website. You can find sports betting markets, redeem bonus codes, and place wagers with just a few clicks.
Arizona Sports Betting Apps on Mobile
US-regulated Arizona sportsbooks have native apps you can download for iOS or Android. Offshore sportsbooks take a different approach and have instead optimized their desktop sites for mobile. This means that you can easily create a widget for your home screen that gives you quick access to sports betting markets just as an app would.
The simple truth is that while native apps from sportsbook operators may seem super convenient, there’s really very little difference between them and mobile optimized sportsbook sites.
Pros and Cons of Arizona Betting Apps
Here, we take a look at some of the main benefits of using a Arizona sports betting app and a few areas where they lag behind mobile or desktop sites.
- Convenience – All of your Arizona sports teams and lines are accessible in one place.
- Geolocation – Mobile apps may offer better geolocation services than desktop sites.
- Harder to find sports betting markets – Niche betting lines can be hard to locate on Arizona betting apps.
- Memory usage & battery draining – Running apps on your phone uses up memory and drains your battery.
When reviewing our top-recommended legal sportsbooks in Arizona, we came across no geolocation issues. It’s also worth pointing out that there’s no memory usage issues at mobile optimized sites.
Payment Methods at Arizona Gambling Sites
Arizona betting apps and online betting sites offer a wide range of banking options for funding your account and cashing out your winnings. Here are the most common:
Credit & Debit Cards
Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and AMEX are tried and trusted options for online gambling Arizona.
Wire Transfer

Cashier’s Checks
You can make a deposit directly into your account using a physical cashier’s check.
Teams to Bet on at Legal Arizona Sportsbooks
The Grand Canyon State is home to some hugely successful professional and college sports team. Let’s take a quick look at some of the favorite teams to back at your chosen Arizona sportsbook.
Arizona Pro Sports Teams at AZ Sports Betting Sites
Keep an eye on these Arizona pro sports teams for placing your wagers.
Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals are the oldest continuously run football team in the US and can trace its roots back to 1898. The Cardinals have called Arizona home since 1988 and play games at State Farm Stadium in Glendale. Since moving to Arizona, the Cardinals have made it to one Super Bowl, losing Super Bowl XLIII 27-23 to the Pittsburgh Steelers in February 2009.
Phoenix Suns
The Suns joined the NBA as an expansion franchise in 1968. They are considered one of the best franchises to have never won an NBA championship and possess the fifth-best all-time win/loss record of any NBA team. NBA Finals losses occurred in 1976, 1993, and 2021, but fans of the Devin Booker-led team will be hoping that their time will come soon.
Arizona Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks are the joint newest MLB team (with the Tampa Bay Rays), but it took a very short time for the team to make its mark on the league. Good drafting and intelligent acquisitions, such as fearsome pitcher Randy Johnson, saw the D-backs win the division title in 1999.
This was followed by the World Series in 2001 when the ballclub beat the New York Yankees. This made the Diamondbacks the fastest expansion team in US major league history to win a title. The Diamondbacks played in the 2023 World Series and lost to the Houston Astros.
Arizona Coyotes
The NHL’s Arizona Coyotes were formed in 1996 after what was initially the relocation of the Winnipeg Jets (who are now still an active NHL franchise). Home games are played at the 5,000-capacity Mullett Arena in Tempe.
Success for the Coyotes has been limited, with a solitary Division championship won in 2012 being the sole trophy in the cabinet. Nonetheless, the team has a promising young core and may be moving upward soon.
Arizona College Teams at AZ Sports Betting Sites
Follow these most prominent Arizona college teams when deciding your bet.
Arizona State Sun Devils
The Sun Devils compete in the Pac-12 Conference on behalf of Arizona State University. A historically successful sports school, the Sun Devils have won 24 National Championships, including five baseball titles.
The Sun Devils also have a robust wrestling program, producing future MMA stars like Dan Severn, Cain Velazquez, and Dan Henderson. The NCAA football program is also flourishing, with NFL players such as Brandon Aiyuk among the recent alumni drafted.
Arizona Wildcats
The Wildcats represent the University of Arizona in the Pac-12 Conference. 18 Varsity teams are sponsored, with the most successful program in school history being the baseball program.
The baseball team has appeared in the College World Series 15 times, winning four National Championships. The Wildcats enjoy a long-standing fierce rivalry with the state rival Arizona State Sun Devils.
Grand Canyon Antelopes
The Grand Canyon Antelopes represent Grand Canyon University in the Western Athletic Conference. The Lopes moved up to Division I competition in 2017 and sponsored 21 varsity teams. Basketball and volleyball games are played at the purpose-built, 7,000-capacity GCU arena.
North Arizona Lumberjacks
The Lumberjacks compete in the Big Sky Conference on behalf of Northern Arizona University. Northern Arizona is considered the most vital school in the US for Cross Country, with the Lumberjacks winning six National Championships between 2016 and 2022.
Types of Bets at AZ Sportsbooks
You can access a wide variety of bet types at any of the Arizona sportsbook recommendations in this review. These include everything from moneylines through to futures wagers on all major leagues and college sports available at Arizona online sports betting sites.
Check out the most popular bet types below.
Moneyline
A moneyline bet is the simplest wager of all. It’s when you pick the winner of an event. This is the most common wager for first-timers.
Point Spread
Point spread wagering is when you predict if a team will win or lose by a set margin. The sportsbook will have already set a margin based in the team or athlete’s form going into the event.
Totals
These are also called over/under wagers. You need to predict whether the total combined points scored in a game will be over or under a line set by the sportsbook.
Player props
Player proposition bets, sometimes called player props, are wagers on whether a player will reach a statistical target set by the sportsbook. This could be points scored in basketball or passing yards in a football game.
Team props
Similar to a player prop, a team prop is wagered on whether a whole team will reach above or below a certain in-game statistic.
Parlays
A parlay wager is when you combine two or more bets into a single wager. Each individual bet is called a leg and you must predict all legs accurately for the wager to pay out.
Futures
Futures are long-term bets placed on significant events in the future. This could be for the Arizona Cardinals to win the Super Bowl or the Phoenix Suns to make the playoffs.
How to Place a Bet at Arizona Sports Betting Sites

Popular Sports to Bet on in Arizona
Arizona is a hotbed of sports with all those pro and college teams that we mentioned earlier. So picking a market to bet on should be easy enough no matter what time of the year it is. Check out the most popular sports available in our list below.
AZ Online Gambling Legislation Timeline
Offshore sportsbooks and gambling sites have been safe and legitimate options for AZ bettors since before the regulation of US-based sportsbooks in AZ. This continues to be the case, and we highly recommend these safe and legit offshore gambling sites governed by international ruling bodies.
Regulated online gambling in Arizona was the culmination of a complicated two-year process. Lawmakers started moving to regulate sports betting as early as 2019, but disagreements about tax rates and online vs. offline availability meant no progress. This was again the case in 2020 when the proposed bill did not pass the committee stage.
Online gambling via regulated sites in Arizona also looked unlikely in 2021, but surprisingly, Governor Doug Ducey managed to renegotiate the compacts with the AZ tribes, allowing for sports betting. Lawmakers signed new compacts on April 15, 2021, and regulated sports betting would follow less than six months later. This was the first type of regulated online gambling in Arizona.
Below, see a timeline of regulated US sports betting in AZ.
- January 2023: Total sports bets placed at Arizona US-regulated sportsbooks top $590 million, with the online gambling market continuing to grow.
- November 19, 2021: Retail sports betting at US-based sportsbooks in Arizona is regulated, and the first bet is placed.
- September 9, 2021: The Arizona US-regulated online sports betting market launches just in time for the 2021 NFL season
- May 24, 2021: Gov. Ducey signs and publishes the gaming compacts on the Federal Register.
- April 15, 2021: HB 2772 and SB 1797 are signed by Gov. Ducey, regulating sports betting in Arizona. The first legal online gambling in Arizona.
- March 2021: HB 2772 and SB 1797 are proposed. The bills allow for US-regulated online wagering and pass the House and the Senate.
- March 2020: Sen. Borelli and Rep. Pierce introduce SB 1525 and HB 2813, respectively. A combination of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic and disagreements on online gambling availability leads to the bills failing to proceed.
- March 2019: Senator Sonny Borelli and Representative Steve Pierce introduce bills proposing to regulate sports betting. Neither proposal includes online gambling, and the bills fail to gain momentum.
- May 14, 2018: The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 is overturned by the US Supreme Court. This opens the way for US-regulated sports betting across the US, with individual states able to determine the regulation of sports betting.
Tax on Sports Betting & Online Gambling Winnings in AZ
Arizona sports betting winnings are subject to state and federal taxes. Like any other kind of profit, net yearly winnings are required to be declared to the IRS and state.
It is common practice for licensed betting operators in jurisdictions with state betting regulations to report the bettor’s net annual income to the IRS and the state. They may also deduct taxes off the top from wins over a specific threshold.
Offshore operators that offer online gambling in Arizona generally won’t disclose your winnings, deduct taxes, or provide you with a W-2G. It’s your own responsibility to keep track of your annual net winnings or losses and submit tax returns based on your activity.
Online Sportsbooks vs Land-Based Betting Facilities in Arizona
There are numerous retail sportsbooks from US-licensed sportsbook operators in Arizona. These legal sportsbooks are based in tribal casinos and sporting venues and also offer state-regulated online operations.
We only recommend the top offshore AZ sportsbooks featured in this betting guide, none of which feature a retail option. Still, let’s look at some pros and cons of betting online versus wagering at a retail facility.
Pros:
- Arizona online betting is more convenient.
- Easier to compare odds.
- Promotions are typically higher value.
- Additional banking options such as crypto
Cons:
- Watching games at sportsbooks is fun.
- Food and drink available at retail sportsbooks.

How Do Online Arizona Sportsbooks Compare to Other States?
The Arizona sports betting landscape is very similar to that of neighboring states when it comes to betting on our top offshore sportsbooks. This is because offshore sportsbooks are available in most US states. For regulated US sports betting, there are some differences.
Of course, Nevada sports betting has been legal at retail locations for many years. And while online sports betting is also permitted, the retail industry is where all the action is at. Colorado sports betting is regulated in a similar way to Arizona, featuring a wide range of regulated online sportsbooks.
Neighboring California does not offer any regulated online sports betting. The same goes for New Mexico and Utah. Still, the good news is that you can wager on our top offshore sportsbooks in these states.
What About Casino Online Gambling in Arizona?
While online sports betting has been regulated in the state since 2021, there are no such provisions for online casino gambling. This means that the only options available right now are offshore casinos much like the offshore AZ sportsbooks mentioned in this guide.
In fact, the majority of our sportsbook recommendations also offer online casinos in Arizona. So if slots and table games are more your thing, then you’ve got plenty of options available to you.
Just bear in mind that welcome bonuses are often specifically tied to a sportsbook or its online casino platform. So make sure to pick the right options when signing up for your account.
Responsible Sports Betting in Arizona
The Arizona Department of Gaming ensures that all US-regulated sportsbook operators offer responsible gambling tools. All online sportsbooks have deposit limits, betting limits, and cool-off periods to ensure players can enjoy sports betting responsibly.
While offshore sportsbook operators fall outside the regulation of the state, they still provide resources and tools to help you avoid the dangers of problem gambling.
The Arizona gambling industry also has a state-wide self-exclusion program. This allows problem gamblers to easily exclude themselves from all regulated gambling activities in the state.
Several resources are available in Arizona for problem gamblers and their families to get help if required. Please see below for details.
- Arizona Council on Compulsive Gambling – (800) 777-7207
- Arizona Tribal Funded Outpatient Program – (800) 6398-7837
