The name’s Bond, James Bond…when it comes to movie icons, Ian Fleming’s moody, often misogynistic, martini-guzzling spy takes some beating (quite often: literally).
The next James Bond odds are hotting up in the race to become the character who first appeared in Ian Fleming’s debut novel Casino Royale, in 1953.
Since then, there have been 27 official James Bond films, with six actors shouldering the role, the women, and the Walther PPK.
Next James Bond Odds
In 2021, a beautifully battered and weary Daniel Craig hung up his tuxedo for the last time, retiring his take on Bond for good. However, the franchise lives on to die another day. Bond is set for a reboot.

We’re on a mission from M to reveal the top 007 contenders for the role. Only a tiny handful of cinematic icons have the license to thrill like Bond. If you’re betting on Bond, here’s our handy guide – for your eyes only.

There are actors who deserve a special mention, some of whom have dominated speculation for years. Others have grown into their stardom, at just the right time to become the next James Bond.
001 – Aaron Taylor-Johnson
The leader in the next James Bond odds, but do you even know who Aaron Taylor-Johnson is? Like many previous choices for James Bond, Taylor-Johnson is not yet a household name.
The 34-year-old British actor is best known for his portrayal of the title character in the film Kick-Ass and even the 2008 film Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging.
Since then, he has featured in scores of films; including superhero roles as Quicksilver, in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Bullet Train with Brad Pitt and the lead role in the upcoming Kraven The Hunter, alongside Russell Crowe.
Dark, moody, and hench, he is the favorite for the new James Bond role at +200.
002 – Henry Cavill
If superhero heritage is the key to Bond’s dressing room, only Kryptonite can beat Henry Cavill.
Best known for his role as pan-galactic immigrant and reporter Clark Kent – aka Superman, Cavill is yet another talented British actor.
Cavill is another celebrity actor with the pecs-appeal, attitude, and smoldering looks for the role.
However, at 41 years old, he might be a little long in the tooth for the franchise looking toward the next 10-plus years. He’s number two with the bookies at +500.
003 – Damson Idris
James Bond has never been played by an actor of color. Will 33-year-old Damson Idris be the first?
Once again, Idris sits outside the A-list for now, but it’s quickly changing. The British actor is best known for his role as Franklin Saint in the FX crime drama Snowfall. How do all these Brits pull off such convincing US accents?
Idris’s star is in the ascendancy, starring alongside Brad Pitt in a new Formula One movie – F1 – scheduled for release in June, 2025.
The question is: will Idris soon be driving an Aston Martin DB5? The bookies think the possibility is strong, with next James Bond odds of +800.
004 – James Norton
James Norton definitely has the right name for the role. The 39-year-old actor has a great portfolio of work and is perhaps best known for playing a killer in the gritty television crime drama Happy Valley.
Norton’s odds have recently shortened. Is Norton – stylistically and visually – a little too close to Daniel Craig?
The bookies are seeing a lot of action on this contender. His piercing gaze and sex appeal, combined with a simmering potential for violence are making Norton worthy of a punt at +1200.
005 – Tom Hardy
Tom Hardy is – without doubt – a serious A-list celebrity. His star has been shining for several years, with scores of leading roles, awards, and industry-wide recognition, as a heavy-hitting, box-office-boosting, action hero.
But Hardy might just be the right actor at the wrong time, given he’s now 47. If he was Bond for as long as Daniel Craig, 15 years, he leave the role being 62.
For years, he has been hotly tipped for the job on online gambling sites. He does have the muscle. He does vulnerable. He does sexy.
He’s a star turn, with James Bond in his DNA. He was once the absolute favorite for the role but has slipped down the rankings at +800.
006 – Aaron Pierre
The hype is huge behind brand new James Bond contender Aaron Pierre. So new, in fact, the bookies are yet to put a price on the London-based actor.
At 30 years old, Pierre is the youngest in our shortlist, with the smallest portfolio of work.
In the recently released Netflix film Rebel Ridge, Pierre’s charismatic performance, as a modern-day Rambo, is getting rave reviews, with fans urging 007 producers to consider Pierre for the role.
It wouldn’t be the first time the franchise has opted for a pretty much unknown star. A hot tip – watch this space for the latest lines.
007 – Harry Styles
If you’re looking for a longshot, as well as an actor who could sing his very own theme tune, why not have a punt on heartthrob Harry Styles?
The 30-year-old singer already has a few movies under his belt and would definitely bring some contemporary flair to Fleming’s stylish spy.
Unfortunately for Styles, however, as Bond he would need to act. Something he’s struggled with if anything his role performance reviews are to go by.
Will the producers shake and stir a younger audience into the cinemas, with a former One Direction diva going head-to-head against SPECTRE? The bookies are not convinced. If you want Harry, the next James Bond odds are +6600.
Next James Bond Odds: The Song
When it comes to theme songs, the James Bond franchise always hits the right notes. Shirley Bassey, Paul McCartney, Adele, Carly Simon, Sheena Easton, Madonna, Lulu, Tom Jones, and Billie Eilish are just a few of the troubadours who have already tackled Bond.
But who will step up to the mike with a new song for a new Bond?
Here are the bookie’s favorites:
001 – Dua Lipa
It’s only a matter of time before the multi-award-winning Albanian-English chanteuse will Be the One.
However, she might be judged too ‘poppy’ for a song that usually carries gravitas. Despite this, she’s the favorite on BetOnline at +150.
002 – Lady Gaga
Is there anything Lady Gaga hasn’t done? Getting the Bond gig will definitely put a smile on her Poker Face. She comes in at +350 and has already proved her range with her performances in A Star Is Born.
003 – Lana Del Rey
It’s hard to believe that Lana Del Rey hasn’t already recorded a Bond theme. The moody melancholic singer is the perfect match for 007. She’s another favorite at +450.
004 – RAYE
RAYE is the most recent star on the list to have found enormous success. The Tooting-born singer/songwriter is tickling the ‘tunebuds’ with odds of +250.
005 – Adele
The superstar claims she has put her singing career on hold. But would she come out of hibernation for a second crack at Bond? The bookies think: maybe…with odds of +700.
006 – SZA
If the Bond producers want to give the franchise reboot a complimentary contemporary theme tune, New Jersey-born R&B artist SZA is one to consider. The performer odds are +700.
007 – Florence and The Machine
Florence Welch has been on the music scene for nearly two decades. Is it finally time for her to step up and channel her inner Shirley Bassey? Bet on the Bohemian at +900.
The Next James Bond Director
Getting the green light to direct a Bond movie is a portfolio highlight for any film director. It’s the director’s chance to make their mark on an iconic movie franchise.
The bookies have only five main directors in the running.
Christopher Nolan
The Dark Knight director is the favorite, with odds of +250, and an extremely tempting prospect. Imagine Bond – reworked – with Nolan’s deft touch of noir.
Gina Prince-Bythewood
The producers have said that 007 will never be played by a woman. But that doesn’t stop a woman directing the action.
BAFTA nominated for The Woman King, will Prince-Bythewood take the chair? The highly thought of director is at +400.
Martin Campbell
Campbell is the director responsible for – arguably – the best Bond films ever: Goldeneye and Casino Royale. Will he make it a third time for the New Zealand director at +500?
Matthew Vaughn
Kingsman director Vaughn could take Bond in a slightly surreal, camp, direction. Some light relief after a decade of gritty Daniel Craig? Will the Director’s Chair be his? He’s at +600 with bookmakers.
Chad Stahelski
Stahelski directed the John Wick movies. He can definitely handle an insane action scene. What a tempting prospect, with odds at +600.
Next James Bond Odds Verdict
For the first time in 15 years, producers of the iconic film franchise are looking for the next James Bond. For years Tom Hardy was the favorite, but time marches on and he is most likely too old for the role.
Now producers will be looking for a younger star, likely yet to be a household name.
Not only this, they will have to find a new director and someone to sing the ever-important soundtrack.
