Retired star quarterback Philip Rivers and his wife, Tiffany, were not high school sweethearts. That would be too typical, and this couple is far from typical.

No, they were middle-school sweethearts, who welcomed Child No. 1 after marrying in college. Today, Philip Rivers’ kids are a big story; Philip and Tiffany are one child short of a starting NFL offense.

The rookie, Child No. 10, is Andrew, who was born last October.

How Many Kids Does Philip Rivers Have?

Philip and Tiffany are proud parents of 10 children ranging in age from 21 all the way down to infant Andrew, who was born in October 2023.

The number of Philip Rivers’ children (only eight of whom are in the above image circa 2017) is the subject of fascination and discussion.

Here is a list that includes Tiffany Rivers and Philip Rivers’ kids ages:

  • Halle – 21 (2002)
  • Caroline – 18 (2005)
  • Grace – 17 (2006)
  • Gunner – 15 (2008)
  • Sarah – 14 (2010)
  • Peter – 13 (2011)
  • Rebecca – 10 (2013)
  • Clare – 8 (2015)
  • Anna – 4 (2019)
  • Andrew – 4 months (2023)

Philip Rivers’ wife delivered the couple’s first child, Halle, while they were students at North Carolina State in 2002 and has had a child at roughly two-year intervals since then.

Who is Philip Rivers’ Wife?

Tiffany, 41, met Philip during their middle-school years.

Philip, who turned 42 in December 2023, knew she was special from one of his first encounters with her.

Philip Rivers’ wife drew the young man’s attention. He remembers telling his mother, “Hey, Mom, see that girl over there? She’s a good girl.”

Rivers told The Chastity Project in 2016 that Tiffany “was centered on faith and Christ. She had those values that I was looking for.”

Two primary women in Philip’s life provide for the family’s religious base. It was Philip’s mother who instilled in her young son the values and importance of the Catholic faith.

The partnership continued with Tiffany, who walks stride for stride with Philip.

Philip said in a 2017 interview with the Christian Post that Tiffany converted to Catholicism the day before they wed.

“There’s so many gifts from the faith to appreciate and it strikes people differently,” he said.

The approach carries over to the couples’s views on contraception. In a video for the Chastity Project, Philip said when he and Tiffany were married that they subscribed to “natural family planning,” which he said was “a fancy word for no contraception.”

They follow the church teachings, with obedience the key. Philip said it’s all done through the woman’s menstrual cycle so a couple can “either really try to have a child or really not.”

Tiffany Rivers is amazingly active, too. She is co-founder of the successful swimwear line called Hermoza.

What is Philip Rivers Doing Now?

Philip Rivers loves football, and, although retired from actively playing the sport, remains active from his family’s base in Fairhope, Alabama.

Philip Rivers’ family is the daily focus as they enjoy life in the coastal town, on Mobile Bay, a half-hour drive from Mobile and an hour’s drive from Pensacola, Florida.

In a Chargers.com story from 2019, the mutual love is clear. The first-born, Halle, said her Dad gives his all to the kids.

“He’s so selfless,” she said, adding that “every day he comes home and he wants to be with us.” And this was while Philip was still an NFL quarterback.

Football-playing son Gunner echoed Halle’s sentiments:

“Whenever he’s home, he plays with us and he’s with us all the time. … We like to throw the football in the yard. We like to putt on the putting green, watch football and do things like that.”

It’s also a full state’s drive from where Philip Rivers played high school football, Athens, Alabama, near the northern border. Rivers was an All-State quarterback for his coach and dad, Steve, in 1999.

After a Hall of Fame-worthy NFL career, Rivers is very much involved in football.

In 2021, Rivers began coaching St. Michael Catholic varsity football, which today includes his son Gunner. The team reached the playoffs at the end of the 2023 season and the future looks bright.

Gunner had a standout freshman season as the team’s quarterback and — beyond his dad’s number, 17 — draws comparisons with Philip.

He’s actually a Philip Rivers, too, since his given name is Philip Gunner Rivers.

Dad, Philip Rivers, told the 2023 Alabama High School Athletic Association playoff bracket show that two-thirds of his team are ninth- and 10th-graders.

Apart from football, his home life remains a full-time job, but it’s a labor of love.

So, are there plans for another child to form a starting 11?

Rivers has no plans other than to continue trusting his faith — so some NFL sportsbooks undoubtedly will take bets on whether Philip and Tiffany will run it back.

Also beyond a doubt is Philip Rivers’ pride in his family. The former star quarterback and his one-time middle-school sweetheart are right where they want to be.
