Reviews of the Best Florida Poker Sites

What are the best Florida poker sites for novices, pros, and everyone else in between? Based on our expert insights and extensive tests, we’ve staked our reputation on these 6 poker sites.

1. BetOnline – Florida’s Best All-Round Poker Site

  • Payout speed: 24 hours (Mon-Fri 9am to 1pm)
  • Founded: 2001
  • License: Panama Gaming Commission
  • Headquarters: St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda
  • Available in Florida: Yes

BetOnline Poker Platform

Our Verdict: 9.7/10

We really enjoyed our BetOnline’s games. The software performs flawlessly on all devices, regardless of whether you use the instant-play platform or the downloadable app. Finding cash games and tournaments is a breeze, but our favorite feature is the straddle option. Having the ability to straddle gives the cash games a more authentic feel because this option is typically only available in live poker rooms.

Something else worth pointing out about BetOnline is that it has onsite poker guides. That tells us the developers want as many people as possible to enjoy poker, regardless of whether they’re a novice or a pro. Of course, if you’re an experienced player, features such as poker guides are great because they attract beginners who, without being callous, are easy targets.

In terms of games and FL poker bonuses, new customers can get a $1,000 first deposit match. Everyone else can win bad beat jackpots topping $1 million, enter freerolls, and win tournament tickets. Having ways to get free tournament tickets is great because BetOnline Poker has plenty of big-money MTTs, including annual events with $3 million prizepools.

Our one major criticism of this Florida poker site is that it doesn’t offer rakeback. Other offshore poker networks give real money players up to 36% rakeback every week, so BetOnline needs to up its game in this regard. However, this minor issue aside, we think this is the best overall poker site in Florida.

2. Bovada – An Industry Veteran known for Offering Great Value

  • Payout speed: 24 hours
  • Founded: 2011
  • License: Curacao eGaming
  • Headquarters: Costa Rica
  • Available in Florida: Yes

Bovada poker section web page.

Our Verdict: 9.4/10

Bovada has been part of the online poker scene for as long as we have. The platform you can now access in Florida emerged from Bodog, one of the world’s first online poker sites. Since 2011, Bovada has been licensed by Curacao eGaming and offers new customers up to $500 when they use our sign-up link in conjunction with the promo code PWB500.

We’ve opened our mini-review by referencing the welcome bonus because its wagering requirements make it ideal for low-stakes players. As per the terms, $5 of your bonus is released each time you rake $10. That equates to 50% rakeback which is much higher than the industry standard. Therefore, if you’re someone with a small bankroll, Bovada’s welcome bonus gives you the most bang for your buck.

If we’re being honest, Bovada’s software isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing. The lobby is easy to navigate, but the table design is lackluster. Having said this, we can’t criticize the game selection. All variants are covered and cash games at low and mid-stakes get a decent amount of traffic. For us, Bovada is best for FL online poker tournaments. Freerolls and low buy-ins MTTs are plentiful, but the clincher for us is the fact you can play for $1 million worth of guaranteed prizes every Monday.

On the payment front, everything is safe and secure. The average withdrawal time is 1 to 2 days. The only problem we have with Bovada is that credit/debit card transactions incur a 15.9% fee. The good news, however, is that crypto payments are fee-free.

3. Ignition Poker – Florida’s Top Crypto Poker Site

  • Payout Speed: Instant to 24 hours
  • Founded: 2016
  • License: Curacao eGaming
  • Headquarters: Costa Rica
  • Available in Florida: Yes

Ignition Online Poker Site

Our Verdict: 9/10

We had to flip a coin to decide which feature made us want to use Ignition Poker more. The $3,000 welcome bonus is attractive. You get up to $1,500 to play poker with and up to $1,500 for casino games. Moreover, the poker bonus has a 2x rollover, which is just below the industry average, so it’s ideal for players at all levels. However, as impressive as that offer is, we decided that the best reason to try Ignition Poker is its dedication to crypto gaming.

Not only do you have the ability to make deposits and withdrawals in a variety of cryptos, including Bitcoin, but there are special bonuses for using them. For example, there is a weekly crypto depositor’s freeroll boasting a $2,500 prizepool. That’s not the only freeroll, but it’s the most interesting because it’s reserved for players who use crypto. We also like Ignition’s software.

There’s a quick-seat option, anonymous tables, jackpot SNGs, and bonuses for cash game players who lose with quads or win with a royal flush. Our one main criticism is that Hold’em and Omaha are the only games in town. You’ll find a few other variants in the lobby, but the tables are virtually empty.

4. Everygame Poker – The Place for Promotions

  • Payout speed: 48 hours
  • Founded: 1996
  • License: Curacao eGaming
  • Headquarters: St Kitts and Nevis
  • Available in Florida: Yes

EveryGame poker signup page.

Our Verdict: 8.8/10

Everygame made its name in Europe under the name Intertops. A major revamp took place in 2021 and that gave rise to the Everygame poker network now available to players in Florida. Newbies can get a 200% welcome bonus up to $1,000 which is ideal for novices who want a healthy return from a small initial deposit. Another way customers can get more for less is through Everygame’s rakeback system. Players at every level can get back a percentage of the rake they pay, with top-ranked VIPs getting 36%. For context, that’s one of the highest rakeback rates we’ve seen from any poker operator, regardless of where they’re licensed.

Sunday is the best day for tournaments at Everygame and cash games across all variants get a lot of traffic at stakes up to $0.50/$1. You might struggle to find games when you move up to higher stakes games, but there will always be at least 3 or 4 active cash games. We don’t love the weekly withdrawal cap of $2,500 but, if you’re a casual player, this shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

5. Poker – Great for Gaming on the Go

  • Payout speed: 24 hours (Mon-Fri 9 am to 1 pm)
  • Founded: 2011
  • License: Panama Gaming Commission
  • Headquarters: Antigua
  • Available in Florida: Yes poker homepage.

Our Verdict: Rating 8.5/10

We didn’t fall in love with the first time we logged in. The interface is a little bit basic, which means it doesn’t feel as exciting or immersive as some of our top-rated Florida poker sites. However, the reason for creating a simple interface became clear when we switched over to a mobile device. The lack of page elements means you get a streamlined experience on iOS and Android. This means you’re able to enjoy the process of playing without any unnecessary distractions.

Something else that piqued our interest was the addition of Six Plus Hold’em. All the usual suspects are there in terms of cash games and tournaments. However, to embrace the latest poker trends, the developers have added a short-deck version of Hold’em (aka Six Plus) to the mix. We love that because it makes more appealing to seasoned players looking for some variety in the offshore gaming space.

6. Juicy Stakes Poker – Loyalty is Rewarded

  • Payout speed: Up to 48 hours
  • Founded: 2009
  • License: Curacao eGaming
  • Headquarters: Curacao
  • Available in Florida: Yes

Juicy Stakes Poker homepage

Our Verdict: 8.3/10

Juicy Stakes doesn’t have as much of a reputation as some of its peers. Indeed, Florida poker sites such as Bovada are better known to the masses. Moreover, the name alone tricked us into thinking this isn’t a serious poker site. We couldn’t have been more wrong. Yes, Juicy Stakes probably isn’t the best name, but that doesn’t matter once you get into the mix.

The software is solid and there are plenty of low-stakes cash games and MTTs, particularly if you’re a fan of Hold’em and Omaha. There were more than 300 active cash game players during our review which, compared to regulated US poker sites, is a big number. What convinced us that Juicy Stakes was a serious poker site was the rakeback system. In addition to happy hour promotions and reload bonuses, players can get up to 36% rakeback every week. That’s as good as Everygame which, as we’ve said, is one of the best poker sites for rakeback in Florida.

How We Choose Trusted FL Poker Sites

We don’t choose sites at random. We go through an extensive page rate and review process to find the best online poker sites in Florida. This process includes testing each site by playing games, making deposits, and chatting to customer support agents. We also look at the company’s history and its reputation within the industry.

FL Poker Apps

Gaming on the go has become a standard play for poker players and, unsurprisingly, operators have responded. The best poker sites in Florida offer mobile games in one of two ways: optimized sites and apps. The former is the most common. In fact, optimized mobile sites are the default strategy for the majority of offshore gambling operators.

Mobile sites are often seen as inferior to apps and, in certain cases, they are. However, because mobile sites are the default position for a lot of offshore operators, it’s a highly competitive space. Therefore, operators can’t afford to put out a subpar product which, in turn, means you get a high-quality experience.

Having said this, there are some offshore poker sites with apps. BetOnline and are notable examples. These operators allow you to download poker apps for Windows and OS devices. The advantage of downloading Florida poker apps is the fact they’re easier to access i.e. you can open games directly from your desktop/home screen.

Online poker game at BetOnline.

Whichever digital door you pass through, it’s possible to play poker online in FL using our iPhone, iPad, or Android device. Playing on the go gives you access to a full selection of tournaments and cash games. You’ll also be able to access poker bonuses, which is useful because they often have wagering requirements. Having the ability to play games whenever you want makes it easier to hit your wagering targets and clear bonuses. It’s also worth noting that a lot of payment options can be linked to apps, which means mobile deposits and withdrawals are extremely easy.

  • Easy access to games 24/7
  • Increased access makes it easier to clear bonuses
  • Tapping buttons makes the experience more tactical
  • Play via optimized mobile sites or apps
  • The payment process is slick

  • Smaller screen so can’t multi-table
  • Can be harder to focus

Is Poker Legal in Florida?

Poker is legal in Florida. That’s the first and most important point to make. The second point to make is that offshore poker sites are also accessible to players within the state. These platforms are licensed internationally by regulators that have been active for more than two decades. Therefore, what you’ve got is a situation where both live and online poker are legal in Florida.

Live poker rooms are governed by state law. As per the Florida Gaming Commission, “poker played for money” is permitted in “licensed cardrooms.” We’ll talk about some of the best live Florida poker rooms in another section. For now, just know that in-person cash games and tournaments are available. Alternatively, if you prefer the convenience of playing online, Florida poker sites licensed by offshore regulators such as Curacao eGaming are ideal.

Is it OK to play poker online in FL using offshore sites? Yes. No one has ever been prosecuted for using offshore poker rooms. They’re just as safe, secure, and fair as any sites licensed in the US. The only difference is their servers are based in different countries. Therefore, you can use them and be confident you’re getting a legitimate service.

When will Online Poker be Legal in Florida?

There isn’t a clear timeline for when or, indeed, if Florida lawmakers will introduce local poker regulations like states such as New Jersey. One of the major sticking points for online gambling in the Sunshine State is the commercial vs. tribal debate. Native American Tribes, such as Seminole, have a major stake in Florida’s gaming economy. Any laws involving the introduction of new regulations need to be agreed on by the state, Native American Tribes, and commercial entities.

In the past, this has hindered the progress of gambling expansion efforts. So, at this point, it’s unclear when there will be locally licensed real money poker sites in Florida. Having a network of locally licensed poker sites would have some advantages.

However, it’s also true that these sites are likely to be ring-fenced, meaning you’d only get to play against people within state lines. Offshore poker sites aren’t bound by such restrictions, which is why they’re a great legal alternative for players in Florida.

Florida Poker Laws

There are more than 25 poker rooms in Florida. These rooms are the result of collaborations between commercial entities, local tribes, and racetracks. Florida State gambling law contains the following conditions:

  • Live poker rooms must be held in venues licensed by the Florida Gaming Commission.
  • The minimum age to play live poker games in Florida is 18.
  • Cardrooms/casinos must not receive any cut of a player’s winnings (i.e. rake money from pots).

Offshore poker sites you can access in Florida abide by similar laws:

  • Operators must be licensed by a recognized international agency, such as Curacao eGaming.
  • The minimum age to play online poker in Florida is 18, if you’re using offshore sites.
  • All software must be certified as safe and fair.
  • FL poker bonuses and promotions must be honored per the published terms and conditions.

What you’ve got in the Sunshine State are two legal frameworks governing live and online poker. So, from all angles, you’re covered.

FL Poker Bonuses

You’ll have a plethora of ways to get free bet tokens in Florida. New customers always get something extra at the best poker sites Florida has to offer. Then, through a combination of freerolls, deposit bonuses, and loyalty rewards, you’ve got a steady stream of added value to dip into. Below are some of the most lucrative FL poker bonuses to look out for:

Welcome OfferTournament TicketsReload BonusesLoyalty BonusesBad Beat Jackpots

Welcome Offer

We wouldn’t recommend a poker room that didn’t welcome new customers with open arms and a generous bonus. The online poker industry has been a thing for more than 20 years and welcome bonuses are now regarded as standard. That’s why our top-rated Florida poker sites give you extra credits when you join.

For example, BetOnline Poker gives eligible customers a deposit match up to $1,000, plus freeroll tickets. Deposit matches are, as you can guess, bonuses based on the value of your deposit. These bonuses are most common, but some welcome packages contain cashback or entry to special tournaments.

Tournament Tickets

Anyone interested in FL poker tournaments online should focus on these offers. The premise is simple: complete X task and receive a tournament ticket. Going back to our previous example, gives new customers freeroll tickets when they make an initial deposit.

Promotions that require you to reach certain betting milestones typically give you access to tournaments with a cash buy-in. For instance, a site might have a weekly $50 tournament and, by reaching a certain betting milestone, you get a free ticket for it. The beauty of these FL poker bonuses is that anything you win from a tournament is yours to keep. That means the potential returns are potentially huge because tournaments tend to have large prizepools.

Reload Bonuses

Any deposit you make after initially adding funds to your account is known as a reload. The top Florida poker sites routinely give you a reason to make deposits by offering reload bonuses. The value of your reward is based on a multiplier which is typically worth between 10% and 50% of your deposit. So, if you claim a 50% reload bonus and deposit $100, you’ll receive a $50 bonus.

Loyalty Bonuses

The most reliable way to get free bet tokens in Florida is through loyalty programs. These programs are based on one simple principle: bets for points. Real money poker sites in Florida take a small percentage of each cash game pot and tournament buy-in. This deduction is known as rake.

The best online poker sites in Florida give you loyalty points each time you pay rake. This system allows you to continually earn points, as long as you’re playing real money games. Points can be exchanged for all manner of rewards, including tournament tickets, freeroll entries, cash game credits, and exclusive prizes. Essentially, what’s happening here is Florida poker sites are rewarding your loyalty.

Bad Beat Jackpots

There’s nothing worse than getting a top-ranked poker hand such as four-of-a-kind and losing. Indeed, there are only two hands that beat four-of-a-kind, a straight flush and a royal flush. The good news is that almost all of the top-rated Florida online poker sites reviewed in this guide offer bad beat jackpots.

These progressive jackpots give you a prize when you lose with four-of-a-kind. Given that this is a rare occurrence in poker, particularly Hold’em, jackpots grow to epic proportions (think $100,000+). Therefore, if you play on a bad beat jackpot table and lose, it will be the best hand you’ve ever lost.

Payment Methods in Florida Poker Sites

Having safe, efficient ways to make deposits and withdrawals is essential if you want to get the most out of real-money poker sites in Florida. Even if you only play freerolls, you still need fast withdrawal methods if you want to reap the rewards of anything you win. The great thing about offshore poker sites is that they’re willing to embrace that latest fintech. Because of this, you’ve got a huge amount of choice. The main ways to pay are…

Traditional Payment MethodsCryptocurrencieseWalletsCashier Checks, Wires, and MoneyOrder

Traditional Payment Methods

Visa, MasterCard, and other debit or credit cards fall into the “traditional” category. They’re familiar, they’re safe, and they’re backed by many decades of unrivaled service. By these measures, Visa et al are ideal for anyone wanting to make deposits and withdrawals.

When it comes to FL lowest minimum deposit limits, Visa and MasterCard are right up there with the best. Specifically, the minimum deposit limit with traditional payment methods is $10. The only area where debit cards fall behind other payment methods is withdrawal speed. The average withdrawal time is 3 to 5 days. That’s still pretty fast, but it’s slower than eWallets and cryptocurrencies.

Decentralized payments remove the middle-man i.e. they create a direct, secure link between you and the person you want to pay. Blockchain technology makes this possible and, importantly, safe. It’s safe because the system is self-verifying. Transactions are only processed if they’re legit.

The other benefit of using cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Ethereum is that they’re efficient. The removal of a proverbial middle-man makes instant deposits and withdrawals possible. Finally, because cryptocurrencies aren’t tied to a specific country, you can use them anywhere in the world. That makes them ideal for people who want to play high or low stakes online poker in FL.

When it comes to poker and Florida fast withdrawals, eWallets are the go-to method for the majority of players. The average processing time for methods such as PayPal is under 24 hours. In some cases, you’ll receive your winnings within an hour. Crypto payment methods offer similar processing times, but they’re less popular because the technology is still unfamiliar to a lot of players. PayPal et al are more familiar, which makes them the ideal choice if you want to make fast deposits and withdrawals.

Cashier Checks, Wires, and MoneyOrder

You’ll be used to making cash deposits if you’ve ever played in a live FL poker room. Well, thanks to payment methods such as MoneyOrder, you can do the same online. Certain poker sites will allow you to make cash deposits via a registered affiliate. You receive a code in exchange for cash or checks.

This code can then be used to make deposits into your poker account. Alternatively, you send money directly to your poker account via a bank wire transfer. The only downside to these deposit options is that they can’t be used for withdrawals.

Different Variations of Poker Games

Regardless of whether you want high-stakes games or low-stakes online poker in FL, our recommended sites have you covered. The most popular cash game and tournament variants you’ll have access to online are:

Texas Hold’em

hold'em poker
(Source: Flickr/Tiago Daniel)

The most popular poker variant in the world is Texas Hold’em. Everyone receives 2 hole cards and the aim is to use them in conjunction with 5 community cards to make the best hand. Everyone gets to use the community cards and Hold’em hands are made up of 5 cards.

This means you can combine one or both of your cards with those on the board. It’s also possible to “play the board,” which means you’re just using the five community cards. Most Hold’em cash games and FL poker tournaments online have a No Limit betting structure, which means you can bet/raise any amount. However, Hold’em can also be played with Limit and Pot Limit betting structures.

omaha poker

Omaha is a community card game like Hold’em. However, instead of receiving two hole cards, you get four. Additionally, you have to use two (and only two) cards in conjunction with the board. Most Omaha games are played using a Pot Limit betting structure. You can also play a split-pot variant known as Omaha Hi-Lo, which awards half the pot to the best high hand and half the pot to the best low hand.

(Source: Wikipedia/Nintendere)

Stud can be described as a face-up/face-down game. The most common variant is 7-Card Stud, which means each player receives 7 cards. 3 of those cards are dealt face-down (so only the player can see them) and 4 are dealt face-up, so everyone can see them. The aim is to make a 5-card poker hand using the 7 cards in front of you. Most Stud games are Limit or Pot Limit.

The clue is in the name when it comes to Draw poker. Each player receives 5 hole cards. These cards are dealt face-down, so they’re only visible to the player. Everyone has the opportunity to fold their hand or draw. Choosing to draw means you get to exchange as many or as few cards as you like to make a 5-card hand. This format is used for a variety of games, including lowball games such as Badugi where the lowest value hand wins.

Mixed Games

The consensus among poker pros is that Mixed Games are a true test of skill because you have to be proficient in all variants. Not only that, you have to know how to adapt because the variant is constantly changing. There are a variety of Mixed Games, but the most popular is H.O.R.S.E. Tips for Playing Online Poker for Real Money in Florida

We don’t want this to be a guide for FL poker for beginners as well as players looking for new places to play. It’s important to say that nothing is guaranteed in poker but you can improve your chances of winning if you understand certain concepts. With this in mind, here are 5 of our most useful tips for playing poker online in Florida or anywhere else you happen to find yourself.

eg. 1. Manage your bankroll

Bankroll management is one of the most important skills a poker player can master. The premise is simple: don’t risk more than you can afford to lose. Sticking to this simple idea requires you to first define your bankroll. A bankroll should only be money you can afford to lose i.e. it should be disposable income. Once you’ve done that, every game you enter should cost a small percentage of your bankroll. Poker pros typically recommend risking no more than 2% of your bankroll in a game.

2. Choose your hands wisely

Playing every hand you’re dealt is a recipe for disaster. There’s no reason you can’t play every hand and win but, in reality, the chances of that happening are slim. The optimal poker strategy is to play a small range of hands, ideally those from the top of the strength scale. You can deviate from this strategy when the circumstances allow but, in general, your range should mainly consist of pairs 7-7 to A-A, A-K, A-K, A-Q, and A-J suited.

3. Be aggressive

Beginners typically play passively, even when they’ve got a strong hand. Poker, particularly when you play online, is an aggressive game. Our advice is to play your hands aggressively. This links back to our previous point about only playing strong hands. It’s much easier to bet aggressively when you’ve got strong hands.

4. Watch what everyone does

Poker is a game of incomplete information, so you need to gather as much of it as possible. One way to do that is by watching your opponents. Take a mental note of how much they bet, how much they bet, the hands they show, and anything else that can give you an insight into their strategy.

5. Think about ranges, not hands

A classic mistake novice poker players make is to put opponents on a single hand. For example, you’ll hear a novice say, “they have A-K.” Poker pros don’t do that. Instead, they think in ranges. That means they assign a range of possible hands to an opponent. This range could include 4 or 5 possible hands. Then, as the hand progresses, they whittle down that range. Eventually, they make a decision based on what hands are most likely given the betting activity and an opponent’s assumed range.

How FL Online Poker Compares to Other Legal States

Florida, unlike New Jersey and Nevada, doesn’t have a regulatory system for online poker. This means local players have two options: play poker online in FL using offshore sites or sit down in live games. There are plenty of live poker rooms in the state, so that’s not a problem. Online poker rooms, despite being located outside of the US, are just as accessible.

The difference between the poker sites Florida players can access and those available in locally regulated states such as New Jersey isn’t just a matter of location. Poker sites licensed in New Jersey must have a physical presence in the state and/or a partnership with a local casino. Florida poker sites aren’t located in the state. The benefit of being located outside of the state is that you get access to larger playerpools. Locally regulated poker states have ring-fenced playerpools, which means you’re only able to play against people in specific areas.

Offshore poker sites don’t have these restrictions, which means you’ve got more players to compete against. That’s a positive because it’s easier to find weak players and there’s never a lull in the action. What’s more, because offshore operators have thriving networks, they’re able to offer bigger prizepools and FL poker bonuses.

Playing Online Poker vs Poker Live in FL

Florida is a great state for live poker. There were 29 live FL poker rooms at the time we wrote this guide, and some of them are renowned for hosting major events. For example, the World Poker Tour (WPT) regularly has events at Bestbet Poker Jacksonville. Similarly, Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood hosts WSOP Circuit tournaments. It’s not just tournaments where Florida’s poker rooms excel. You’ll find plenty of cash games covering all variants, including Hold’em, Omaha, and Stud.

Given that the live scene is so vibrant, it’s hardly surprising that offshore Florida poker sites do everything they can to get your attention. Put simply, they need to offer accessible software, plenty of games, and generous bonuses. The Florida online poker sites reviewed in this guide do that and more. They have a great selection of games, software that anyone can use, and rewards for real money players.

These benefits go hand-in-hand with the inherent advantages of playing online poker, which include:

  • Games that run at a faster pace than their live counterparts
  • The ability to play multiple games at once
  • Lower rake and minimum stakes
  • More bonuses and rewards
  • Access to games 24/7 via your mobile

Between the features available at our top-rated Florida poker sites and the natural advantages of playing via your computer or mobile, we recommend playing online. Having said that, we also think Florida is a great place for live poker, so don’t be afraid to get out there and play.

Sweepstakes Poker Online

Sweepstakes poker sites, such as GGPoker, are legal in all US states because they operate in a slightly different way to their real money counterparts. For all intents and purposes, they’re free-play sites. You wager virtual credits known as Gold Coins. You’ll be given free Gold Coins through various mechanisms, such as daily login bonuses, but there is an option to purchase more if you want.

In addition to Gold Coins, which don’t have any real-world value, you can win Sweeps Coins. You can win Sweeps Coins and, once you’ve got enough, exchange them for prizes. These prizes come in various forms, including cash. So, even though sweepstakes casino sites are free-play platforms, they do give you ways to win cash prizes. This system makes them legal in all US states, including Florida.
