Best Michigan Online Sports Betting Sites

Most of the best online sport betting sites provide great betting options, secure banking, generous bonuses, and other perks. However, there are plenty of aspects that differentiate them. We will go through the top Michigan options in more detail so that you can quickly find the perfect fit.

1. BetOnline – Best Overall MI sportsbook

BetOnline Homepage

  • Payout time: 1-2 days
  • Established: 2012
  • License: Panama Gaming Commission
  • Headquarters: Panama City, Panama
  • Restricted Regions: New Jersey

Our Verdict (9/10)

BetOnline has been one of the top online gambling brands in the US for over a decade. Michigan bettors benefit from odds with very low margins which means you’ll generally get better value for your dollar betting at BetOnline over other bookmakers.

Odds are released early too – so you can take advantage before the odds shift once everyone else gets in on the action. You’ll also find several betting features such as some live streaming and a handy bet builder for creating the perfect parlay.

The platform hasn’t changed much over the years. This is probably because the site runs smoothly on desktop and mobile, albeit the mobile sports betting page can feel a little constricted at times. The cashier has a mixture of crypto and traditional options, although you can’t withdraw using debit or credit cards still.

Features Overview:

  • Betting Options: 9.6/10

  • Streaming & Features: 9.1/10
  • Promotions & Rewards: 9.5/10
  • Desktop Experience: 9.3/10
  • Mobile & App Experience: 9.1/10

Top Sign-Up Offer:

Offer Description Promo code Wagering requirement Minimum deposit

Pros:

  • Low margin odds across the board
  • Covers more than 35 sports
  • Odds are released before other sportsbooks

Cons:

  • No credit or debit card payouts

2. Everygame – Boosted Odds on Major Sports

Everygame Homepage

  • Payout time: 2-3 days
  • Established: 1996
  • License: Curacao eGaming
  • Headquarters: Antigua
  • Restricted Regions: Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Washington

Our Verdict (9.8/10)

Everygame launched back in 1996 when sports betting was very much the wild west. This has afforded the bookmaker a very talented and experienced team that can provide a unique sportsbook. For example, unlike other operators, Everygame has separated the pre-game sportsbook and the live betting platforms which makes them both significantly more efficient.

The range of markets and sports offered at Everygame is shallower than BetOnline but there are some specific areas that the sportsbook excels in. Firstly, numerous boosted odds are offered on selected markets throughout major leagues and tournaments. Secondly, the coverage of international soccer and the quality of odds is incredibly competitive.

The cashier is small – with only a few crypto options, credit and debit cards that can only be used for deposits, and bank transfers, you are slightly limited in options. However, the crypto options are fast and Everygame supports Discover and AMEX cards.

Features Overview:

  • Betting Options: 9.4/10
  • Betting Odds: 9.1/10
  • Streaming & Features: 6/10
  • Promotions & Rewards: 9.0/10
  • Desktop Experience: 9.9/10

  • Customer Support: 9.7/10

Top Sign-Up Offer:

Offer Description Promo code Wagering requirement Minimum deposit

Pros:

  • Get regular boosted odds for numerous sports
  • Accepts all major credit cards
  • Extremely efficient live betting platform

Cons:

  • No card payouts

Doesn’t offer much horse racing

3. Bovada – Huge Odds and Great Market Coverage

Bovada Homepage

  • Payout time: 1-2 days
  • Established: 2011
  • License: Curacao eGaming
  • Headquarters: Curacao

Our Verdict (9.6/10)

You’ll find the most consistently valuable odds at Bovada. Even more so than BetOnline. Not only are the odds usually better at Bovada, there is often a uniquely boosted value on longshots. This makes Bovada a great choice for those who really know their sport and can predict an upset.

Event and market coverage is excellent too with more than 30 sports to bet on and extended markets provided for niche sports too. You’ll find some interesting betting features too such as #Whatsyawager which lets you choose your own market and Bovada may assign odds for you. For example, you could suggest a novelty prop bet.

The cashier is just as small as Everygame with a clear focus on cryptocurrencies. Most of the sports bonuses provided can also be boosted by depositing with crypto tokens rather than a traditional method such as credit or debit cards.

This platform could still improve in a few key areas such as the customer support department. The team is very dedicated and incredibly helpful, but there is only one support method and it can be difficult to locate for the very first time.

Features Overview:

  • Betting Options: 9.7/10
  • Betting Odds: 9.9/10
  • Streaming & Features: 6/10
  • Promotions & Rewards: 8.9/10
  • Desktop Experience: 9.6/10
  • Mobile & App Experience: 9.6/10
  • Registration & Process: 9.4/10
  • Payment Methods: 9.0/10
  • Customer Support: 8.8/10

Top Sign-Up Offer:

Offer Description Promo code Wagering requirement Minimum deposit
Sports Welcome Bonus 50% up to $250 N/A 5x $20

Pros:

  • Consistently offers the best sports betting odds
  • Provides extensive markets for niche sports
  • Unique betting features like #Whatsyawager

Cons:

  • No card withdrawals
  • Card deposits incur heavy fees

4. BetNow – Alternate Lines on Baseball Games

BetNow homepage

  • Payout time: 1-3 days
  • Established: 2015
  • License: Gaming Curacao
  • Headquarters: Curacao

Our Verdict (9.5/10)

BetNow is a small sportsbook that lacks the visual flair of some of its bigger competitors. However, where it fails to impress visually, it makes up for it a few key departments. The baseball odds and market coverage are a cut above many competitors, and we noted more alternative lines here than at other bookmakers too.

This sportsbook offers unconventional bonuses where you can select one of many different options. For example, the welcome offer has several different versions, and you can pick just one by entering the appropriate bonus code when you deposit. You can also take part in numerous contests and tournaments throughout the year.

Features Overview:

  • Betting Options: 9.5/10
  • Betting Odds: 9.4/10
  • Streaming & Features: 5/10
  • Promotions & Rewards: 8.8/10
  • Desktop Experience: 9.7/10
  • Mobile & App Experience: 9.1/10
  • Registration & Process: 9.5/10
  • Payment Methods: 9.0/10
  • Customer Support: 9.1/10

Top Sign-Up Offer:

Offer Description Promo code Wagering requirement Minimum deposit
Welcome Bonus 1 50% up to $500 BN50 10x $20
Welcome Bonus 2 100% up to $1,000 BN100 20x $20
Welcome Bonus 3 150% up to $225 BN150 20x $10

Pros:

  • Incredible baseball odds with alternative lines
  • Multiple welcome bonus options
  • Regular contests and tournaments

Cons:

  • No card withdrawals

5. MyBookie – Offers Low Bonus Rollovers

MyBookie Homepage

  •         Payout time: 2-3 days
  •         Established: 2014
  •         License: Gaming Curacao
  •         Headquarters: Costa Rica

Our Verdict (9.5/10)

This sportsbook is very user-friendly and very friendly for casual sports bettors. The odds are very accessible but not exactly the sharpest when compared to BetOnline, BetUS, or Bovada. MyBookie does have a reputation for banning professional gamblers – so be aware if you are a pro looking to regularly take advantage of long odds.

We noted at least 25 different sports to bet on and MyBookie covers a lot of the “novelty” markets such as politics, professional wrestling, and entertainment – like the Oscars and MTV Awards. Live betting is fast and feels very comfortable on a mobile device.

You can deposit using a good range of popular cryptocurrencies and traditional means. However, you can only withdraw using cryptos and wire transfers. There are several ongoing Michigan sports betting bonuses for bettors and the rollovers are advantageously low.

Features Overview:

  • Betting Options: 9.4/10
  • Betting Odds: 9.210
  • Streaming & Features: 6/10
  • Promotions & Rewards: 9.4/10
  • Desktop Experience: 9.6/10
  • Mobile & App Experience: 9.4/10
  • Registration & Process: 9.2/10
  • Payment Methods: 8.9/10
  • Customer Support: 9.3/10

Top Sign-Up Offer:

Offer Description Promo code Wagering requirement Minimum deposit
Sports Welcome Bonus 50% up to $1,000 MYB50 10x $50

Pros:

  • Fairly competitive odds that suit casual bettors
  • Wide market coverage of niche and novelty events
  • Ongoing bonuses feature very low rollovers

Cons:

  • Can only withdraw with crypto and wire transfers
  • Bans professional bettors

6. BetUS  – High Betting Limits

BetUS Homepage

  • Payout time: 0-3 days
  • Established: 1994
  • License: Government of Mwali
  • Headquarters: Costa Rica

Our Verdict (9.4/10)

Serious sports bettors have long rallied behind BetUS owing to strong odds, quite early release of odds for major US leagues, and very high betting limits – ideal for sharp bettors and high rollers. The coverage of events and markets is just as good as BetOnline but the racebook leans a little more towards US racing than it does overseas.

This platform runs very well on mobile devices and the layout never feels cluttered like some other major competitors like Bovada. There is a unique feature called BetUS TV which offers a plethora of in-depth video analysis and predictions of a wide variety of sports.

The bonuses can get pretty big at BetUS and, for those thinking about online casinos in Michigan, the welcome bonus also includes a small amount of bonus money to be used for gaming.

Features Overview:

  • Betting Options: 9.6/10
  • Betting Odds: 9.4/10
  • Streaming & Features: 6/10
  • Promotions & Rewards: 9.3/10
  • Desktop Experience: 9.5/10
  • Mobile & App Experience: 9.6/10
  • Registration & Process: 9.0/10
  • Payment Methods: 8/8/10
  • Customer Support: 9.3/10

Top Sign-Up Offer:

Offer Description Promo code Wagering requirement Minimum deposit
125% Sign-Up Bonus 100% Sports Bonus up to $2,500 + 25% Casino Bonus up to $625 JOIN125 10x Sports, 30x Casino $100

Pros:

  • High betting limits and extensive markets
  • Great racebook for local US racing
  • BetUS TV platform provides betting insights
  • Bonuses are often quite large

Cons:

  • No bank card withdrawals

7. Sportsbetting.ag – Low-Margin Odds

sportsbetting homepage

  • Payout time: 1-2 days
  • Established: 1999
  • License: Panama Gaming Commission
  • Headquarters: Panama City, Panama

Our Verdict (9.3/10)

Initially launched way back in 1999, Sportsbetting.ag was eventually acquired by the BetOnline group and the platform was quickly turned into a sister site of sorts. You can enjoy the same great low-margin odds as BetOnline, as well as the same variety in markets and event coverage.

The bonuses are different though. An important consideration is the fact that most matched deposit offers are provided as “free play” which restricts your bets to specific sports and markets. Unlike BetOnline where you can mostly bet on whatever you wish with your bonus.

You’ll also have the same deposit and withdrawal methods which includes fast cryptocurrencies with high maximum withdrawals. Debit and credit cards are still limited to deposits only.

Features Overview:

  • Betting Options: 9.6/10
  • Betting Odds: 9.4/10
  • Streaming & Features: 6/10
  • Promotions & Rewards: 8.7/10
  • Desktop Experience: 9.4/10
  • Mobile & App Experience: 9.3/10
  • Registration & Process: 9.0/10
  • Payment Methods: 9.0/10
  • Customer Support: 9.3/10

Top Sign-Up Offer:

Offer Description Promo code Wagering requirement Minimum deposit
Welcome Special 100% up to $500 on the First Two Deposits DOUBLEUP 14x $100

Pros:

  • Great low-margin odds that are released early
  • Regular ongoing sports betting bonuses
  • Backed by the BetOnline group

Cons:

  • No debit and credit card withdrawals
  • Bonuses are offered as “free play”

8. Jazz – Huge Range of Markets on College Sports

Jazz homepage

  • Payout time: 1-2 days
  • Established: 1994
  • License: Curacao eGaming
  • Headquarters: Antigua and Barbuda

Our Verdict (9.1/10)

Jazz has actually been around for as long as both BetUS and Everygame. In that time, the bookmaker has earned numerous accolades and has featured in several mainstream publications in the US. We counted more than 300 different markets for major league games including the NBA, NFL, and MLB.

However, this operator shines with its racebook and college sports offerings. NCAA basketball and NCAA football odds are among the most competitive in the US and the coverage of prop markets is impressive. The racebook features live streaming of most races and the maximum possible payout is a hefty $50,000.

Jazz bonuses do suffer from the same drawback as Sportsbetting.ag with “free play” and the cashier is fairly limited compared to the higher-ranked operators. You can only withdraw with Bitcoin and money transfers in the US.

Features Overview:

  • Betting Options: 9.5/10
  • Betting Odds: 9.1/10
  • Streaming & Features: 7/10
  • Promotions & Rewards: 8.6/10
  • Desktop Experience: 9.4/10
  • Mobile & App Experience: 9.4/10
  • Registration & Process: 9.0/10
  • Payment Methods: 8.9/10
  • Customer Support: 9.1/10

Top Sign-Up Offer:

Offer Description Promo code Wagering requirement Minimum deposit
Welcome Bonus 75% Sports Bonus up to $2,500 + 25% Casino Bonus up to $1,000 + 3 Contests Entries JAZZ100 12x Sports, 40x Casino $50

Pros:

  • Excellent NCAA betting odds
  • Massive coverage of international horse racing
  • Live streaming including horse racing
  • Great market coverage for major leagues

Cons:

  • Limited withdrawal methods
  • Bonuses are restricted to “free play”

9. Lucky Block – Wide Selection of Crypto Options

Lucky Block homepage

  • Payout time: 0-2 days
  • Established: 2022
  • License: Curacao Interactive Licensing
  • Headquarters: London, UK

Our Verdict (9.0/10)

Lucky Block initially launched in 2022 and quickly became one of the most popular cryptocurrency-only gambling sites in the US. The platform also has a fast registration policy which means you can create an account with ease.

This platform’s sports betting continues to grow but there still isn’t any horse racing and the smaller niche and novelty events have fewer markets than the likes of MyBookie or XBet. You can also only use cryptocurrencies at Lucky Block – although you can buy crypto with a credit card. Withdrawals can only be made to a crypto wallet.

Features Overview:

  • Betting Options: 9.4/10
  • Betting Odds: 9.0/10
  • Streaming & Features: 7/10
  • Promotions & Rewards: 8.4/10
  • Desktop Experience: 9.3/10
  • Mobile & App Experience: 9.4/10
  • Registration & Process: 9.5/10
  • Payment Methods: 9.0/10
  • Customer Support: 8.7/10

Top Sign-Up Offer:

Offer Description Promo code Wagering requirement Minimum deposit
Welcome Offer 200% up to 10,000 EUR N/A 12x Sports 20 EUR

Pros:

  • Instant cryptocurrency withdrawal times
  • Browse a good selection of sports and markets
  • Access the site from a mobile device to bet
  • You can still buy crypto using a credit card

Cons:

  • Only accepts cryptocurrencies

10. XBet – Fast Live Betting Offers

xbet homepage

  • Payout time: 2-3 days
  • Established: 2013
  • License: Gaming Curacao
  • Headquarters: Costa Rica

Our Verdict (8.8/10)

XBet is a sister site to MyBookie which is why you’ll see quite a few similarities. Regardless, XBet still has its own identity and has an entirely different look and feel. The sharp black colors and sleek interface feels modern. Live betting is a huge draw here as the live platform runs very fast on mobile and desktop.

You can find hundreds of markets for most single major league games and XBet has good coverage of European soccer and international cricket too. Our tests confirmed that the betting odds typically mirror MyBookie and the release times seem to be the same also.

The cashier section is the same too with popular cryptocurrencies, credit/debit card deposits, and the additional withdrawal method of wire transfers. However, the bonuses are smaller than MyBookie, but sports bettors can claim ongoing reload offers each week.

Features Overview:

  • Betting Options: 9.3/10
  • Betting Odds: 9.0/10
  • Streaming & Features: 6/10
  • Promotions & Rewards: 8.5/10
  • Desktop Experience: 9.4/10
  • Mobile & App Experience: 9.5/10
  • Registration & Process: 8.9/10
  • Payment Methods: 8.8/10
  • Customer Support: 9.0/10

Top Sign-Up Offer:

Offer Description Promo code Wagering requirement Minimum deposit
First Deposit Sports Bonus 50% up to $500 XBET50 7x $45

Pros:

  • Fast live betting on mobile and desktop
  • Intuitive and simple interface
  • Regular ongoing reload bonus
  • Low welcome bonus rollover

Cons:

  • No debit card withdrawals
  • Smaller bonus offers

11. Mega Dice – Large Welcome Bonus on the First Deposit

Mega Dice Homepage

  • Payout time: 0-2 days
  • Established: 2022
  • License: Curacao eGaming
  • Headquarters: London, UK

Our Verdict (8.8/10)

Mega Dice is very similar to Lucky Block. You’ve got a cashier section that only accepts cryptocurrencies and a modern sportsbook interface that can take some getting used to.

You can still buy Bitcoin using a third-party exchange in the cashier section. But you will still need to withdraw to a crypto wallet or exchange account. The sports betting coverage is strong but not quite at the level of Bovada or BetOnline. Esports odds are great and Mega Dice has begun offering live streaming too.

Features Overview:

  • Betting Options: 9.1/10
  • Betting Odds: 8.9/10
  • Streaming & Features: 6/10
  • Promotions & Rewards: 8.5/10
  • Desktop Experience: 9.2/10
  • Mobile & App Experience: 9.3/10
  • Registration & Process: 9.0/10
  • Payment Methods: 8.7/10
  • Customer Support: 8.6/10

Top Sign-Up Offer:

Offer Description Promo code Wagering requirement Minimum deposit
Welcome Bonus 200% up to 1 BTC N/A 60x 20 EUR

Pros:

  • Can easily browse the major sports leagues
  • Great esports betting odds
  • Live streaming of various sports including esports
  • Fast withdrawals using cryptocurrencies

Cons:

  • No alternative withdrawal methods
  • Welcome offer has a large rollover

Players must be over 21 and within state lines to place legal wagers in Michigan. There is no residency requirement for wagering, and players fulfilling the above requirements can download and bet anywhere in the Great Lakes State.

However, there are a few groups that are restricted from betting. These include coaches and players, referees, league and team officials, employees of betting operators, and anyone with access to confidential information about sports. If you are criminally barred from betting or voluntarily excluded from gambling, you are also prohibited from betting.

Latest Michigan Sports Betting Updates

Michigan first allowed legal retail sports betting in March 2020 but expanded to include online and mobile sportsbooks in January 2021. Players 21 and older can now wager at more than a dozen sportsbooks anywhere within state lines on all professional and collegiate sports.

Michigan Sports Betting Background

There is a long history of support for gambling in the Great Lakes State. In 1972, voters supported a referendum to allow a state lottery and charitable gaming by a 72%/28% margin.

Michigan lawmakers tried to pass a sports betting law before the US Supreme Court overturned PASPA, the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, in 2017. Outgoing Governor Rick Snyder vetoed it, citing concerns over the lack of scrutiny in the legislation and indicating that the next legislature should “thoroughly evaluate the revenue implications of authorizing internet gambling.”

Incoming Gov Whitmer had no such qualms about the legislation and signed HB 4917 into law after its passage by the Michigan Legislature in December 2019. The legislation allowed retail sports betting to launch within three months and online sports betting to go live in January 2021. 14 Michigan sports betting apps launched statewide, with 15 MI online sportsbook licenses available.

Future of Michigan Sports Betting

As a mature sports betting industry has grown in MI, all but one Michigan sportsbook license has been claimed. Speculation has grown that lawmakers might pass legislation increasing the number of available licenses, but this seems to be a distant prospect. Progress in other gambling areas, like the January 2023 launch of interstate online poker, has taken priority with legislators.

Legislation to include greater responsible gambling resources may be a development in the future for MI sports betting. In February 2023, State Senator Joseph N. Bellino Jr. proposed SB 54, which would see responsible gambling taught in Michigan schools.

Michigan Lottery Locations

Currently, Michigan Lottery does not have a partnership with any sportsbooks, so you cannot place bets at any lottery retailer in the Great Lakes State. This is unlikely to change, given that it would require an amendment to the state’s lottery and sports betting laws.

Off-Track and Stadium Betting Locations

There are no stadium or off-track betting facilities in Michigan, despite partnerships between the state’s major league teams and sportsbooks. You may see sportsbook branding around stadiums, but no wagers are accepted on-site.

Several Michigan sportsbooks have also opened sports bars encouraging patrons to place wagers on their phones, like the DraftKings Sports and Social venue at Somerset Connection and the PointsBet Sports Bar. There are no betting kiosks at these sites, but should the Michigan Gaming Control Board legalize sports betting in bars, these facilities will surely accept wagers.

There is only one horse racetrack in the Great Lakes State, Northville Downs. While you can place off-track pari-mutuel wagers at several racebooks, like TVG, TwinSpires, and Caesars Racebook, MI has no off-track betting locations. Therefore, wagering at Northville Downs or through pari-mutuel betting apps are your only options for betting on horse racing.

Michigan Responsible Gambling Resources

Like many states, Michigan has a state-wide self-exclusion program that prevents self-excluded players from registering or gambling at any casino licensed by the MGCB. You can voluntarily join the program for either five years or life. At the end of your self-exclusion period, you can change your status. Every Michigan online sports betting site must offer this to bettors following MGCB regulations.

Michigan sportsbooks will also direct you to third-party organizations like the Michigan Association on Problem Gambling, the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, and the National Council on Problem Gambling. A proportion of sports betting tax revenue in MI is directed toward helping problem gamblers.

How Does Michigan Compare to Other States?

Market Coverage

With plenty of Michigan online sports betting sites available, MI bettors have a great selection of markets. There are also few restrictive sports betting laws, so nearly all professional and collegiate sports are available for betting. No restrictions on in-state college teams or college prop betting exist, so bettors are free to wager on popular college teams like Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartans.

Competitive Odds & Prices

The available Michigan sports betting sites are also available in many other US states, and most operators provide the same betting lines across the US. That means players can get the same competitive odds as many other US bettors. Many MI sportsbooks have partnerships with local teams and offer odds boosts on games featuring those franchises regularly.

Gambling Revenue

An 8.4% tax is applied to gross gaming revenue from sports betting, and each sportsbook must pay 0.25% of its betting handle in excise taxes. There is also a $50 tax on every employee involved with taking wagers.

MI collected $24,660,065 in state betting taxes between the legalization of sports betting in March 2020 and January 2023. Most of this money is allocated to the Michigan School Aid Fund, which covers foundation allowance, special education, at-risk programs, school meals, and vocational education, among other education programs. The revenue also funds aid for state firefighters with cancer and a state fund through the Department of Health and Human Services for problem gamblers.

Betting Taxes

Gambling winnings are considered taxable income under the Michigan Income Tax Act. As MI has a flat income tax system, all income earners pay 4.25% of taxable income. Unlike in some other states, losses are not deductible.

In addition to state taxes, sports betting taxes are taken at the federal level, so you must declare any profit on your IRS tax form W-2G. Some sportsbooks will withhold 25% of your winnings for tax purposes. Any profit over $600 is subject to tax, and your sportsbook will send you the relevant documents if you pass this threshold.
