Fans of the Remedy Connected Universe are looking ahead to Control 2 and The Lake House contains some juicy hints of what’s to come.
The Lake House is the latest and final DLC expansion for Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake 2, and it not only wraps up the last of the game’s remaining story threads but also gives players a look ahead at the upcoming Control 2.
Spoiler warning for Alan Wake 2: The Lake House
Players who have found their way through this unsettling DLC have discovered an unexpected, familiar face.
Dylan Faden, brother to Control protagonist Jesse Faden and previous host of the Hiss, is still under containment and observation by the Bureau, and his appearance in The Lake House is the biggest tease yet towards the direction of Control 2.
Through conversation with Dylan, playable Lake House protagonist Kiran Estevez – and the player by extension – are given glimpses of a distorted, fractal cityscape, as well as hints of a new threat to the FBC’s headquarters in The Oldest House.
This setting and as-yet-undiscovered threat will likely make up the backbone of Remedy’s Control sequel, with the Faden siblings continuing to play a pivotal role in the story.

Alan Wake 2 was a successful return to form for Remedy’s Steven King-esque tortured writer horror saga. The game managed to serve as a follow-up to the 2010 original, an expansion of Remedy’s MCU-style connected storytelling, and an effective adventure in its own right.
Alan Wake and Control are both proving to be hot properties – with TV and Film adaptations in the works – and there’s little sign that Remedy is slowing down in its work in this unique, successful corner of gaming.
Now, as players’ attention shifts back to the Control franchise, Remedy fans are eager to see if this baton-passing storytelling will continue to bear fruit.
