Amazon introduces AI Shopping Guides to help users make informed purchase decisions. These guides consolidate key product information and offer personalized recommendations.
During an event hosted by Amazon in Nashville on October 9, Doug Herrington, CEO of Amazon Worldwide Stores, announced the launch of AI Shopping Guides to help shoppers choose the right items from the Amazon store.
AI Shopping Guides consolidate all the important information shoppers need before purchasing a curated selection of relevant products. This allows shoppers to quickly and easily find the right product, even if they’re unfamiliar with that product category.
Each guide includes educational content and customer feedback, which helps shoppers to make informed purchase decisions. If the guide doesn’t contain the information the shopper wants, they can use Amazon’s generative AI shopping assistant, Rufus, for further help.
To ensure accuracy, up-to-date details, and relevance, AI Shopping Guides leverage LLM (Large Language Models) to provide the most current information tailored to the specific product type the shopper is viewing. The guides will cover over 100 product types, ranging from large items like TVs to everyday items like dog food. Initially, this feature will be available to Amazon shopping mobile app and web users in the U.S. starting Thursday.
It will automatically appear in search autocomplete suggestions when relevant, allowing shoppers to explore the guide directly. Additionally, shoppers can access the “Keep Shopping For” card on the homepage of the Amazon shopping app to check out AI Shopping Guides related to their recent shopping activity.
