Nintendo has announced the release of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete, a paid upgrade to the popular 2017 mobile game Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
Following the end of service for the original free-to-play version scheduled for November 28, 2024, the new app will be available on December 3, introducing both a one-time fee model and a handful of new features.

Initially, Pocket Camp Complete will be available at a discounted rate of $9.99 (£8.99) through January 31, 2025. After this promotional period, the app will be priced at $19.99 (£17.99), with no in-game purchases or additional fees, according to Nintendo. Unlike its predecessor, the new version can be played offline, making it more accessible for users without consistent internet access.
Nintendo is allowing players to transfer data from the free-to-play app, including items like Bells, furniture, clothing, and friendship levels with animals, via a linked Nintendo account. However, some elements, such as Leaf Tickets and the monthly Pocket Camp Club subscription benefits, will not be carried over. Transfers are available until June 2, 2025.
Pocket Camp Complete introduces several new features. Notably, players will be able to use Camper Cards to connect with friends through QR codes and explore a new location called Whistle Pass, where in-game musical performances will be held.
Additionally, events will operate on a four-year rotation, so seasonal and special activities will recur over time, with a mix of new and familiar events promised.
The game has opened pre-registration on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Nintendo has planned a farewell event in the free app before it closes, with in-game gifts and friend tokens to celebrate seven years of Pocket Camp
The shift to a paid model aligns with Nintendo’s recent trend of consolidating in-app purchases into straightforward, one-time payments, aiming to offer long-time Animal Crossing fans a familiar, streamlined experience.
With limited updates for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Pocket Camp Complete arrives as Nintendo’s latest attempt to keep the franchise active on mobile while addressing concerns over subscription costs and microtransactions.
