Apple has hiked the price of iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max battery servicing from $99 to $119, but it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise.
In 2022, the cost of an iPhone 14 battery replacement increased by $30 to $99. Price hikes for battery replacement for iPads, MacBooks, Apple Watch, and older iPhone models followed suit.
In 2023, the tech giant decided to cut prices for iPhone 14 battery servicing in the UK by £10 (~ $13) to £95 (~$125). It now looks like the recent price hikes are affecting the UK market too, with battery replacement for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models now costing £109.
Right now, iPhone 16 and 16 Plus battery repair prices are unaffected. But while Apple hasn’t yet announced it will increase the price of battery replacements for older iPhones, we can’t rule it out.
Free Battery Replacements for Apple Care Plus Members
The good news is that defective batteries are covered under Apple’s one-year warranty. AppleCare Plus members can get a free battery replacement for batteries holding less than 80% of their original capacity. You can see if you’re eligible by going to Settings > Battery and checking the capacity under Battery Health & Charging.
The service fee for battery replacement under AppleCare Plus remains at $29.
The not-so-great news: if you’re an AppleCare Plus member and your battery isn’t at less than 80% of its original capacity, you’ll need to opt for third-party repair. There’s also the do-it-yourself option using official Apple parts and tools.
