Apple has introduced the Pencil Pro, a next-generation iPad stylus that includes squeeze gestures.
The squeezes allow for pen-off shortcuts like selecting objects. You can rotate the barrel (a “barrel roll”) to change ink size and other characteristics.
The new pen also supports Find My tracking. It still charges on the side of the iPad Air and iPad Pro, and offers familiar second-generation features like hovering.
The Pencil Pro supports both the iPad Air M2 and iPad Pro M4. It’s available for $129 in the US and will ship May 15th.
Apple is still offering the first- and second-generation Pencil models. That’s not completely surprising, however. The legacy 9th-generation iPad (which doesn’t use magnetic charging) is still on sale, and the Pencil Pro doesn’t support earlier iPads. For now, Apple’s pen lineup is larger than ever.
