Assassin’s Creed Hexe, currently in early development at Ubisoft, promises a fresh direction for the franchise. Let’s dive into the details.
Assassin’s Creed Hexe is expected to come live in the 2026 release on the Infinity platform.
Marc-Alexis Côté, Vice President and Executive Producer of the series, hinted that Hexe is set to offer a more narrative-driven experience with limited open-world exploration, reminiscent of the franchise’s earlier games.
However, Insider Gaming managed to get some details on the upcoming Ubisoft game.
Dark Witchcraft and Female Protagonist
This installment, set during the 16th-century Holy Roman Empire, will delve into witchcraft themes and feature a female protagonist named Elsa with supernatural abilities.
Insider Gaming has revealed that one of Elsa’s abilities allows her to control animals, demonstrated in a clip where she possesses a cat to evade German soldiers by causing a distraction.
The game’s atmosphere is dark and foreboding, with gameplay unfolding on the gloomy cobbled streets of a city.
Additionally, the game may include a Fear System inspired by the “Assassin’s Creed Syndicate” ‘Jack The Ripper’ DLC, fitting given the historical context of the 16th-century Witch Trials where thousands were executed on suspicion of witchcraft.
Marc-Alexis Côté, in a 2022 interview with IGN, emphasized the game’s unique approach, indicating that not every new title needs to conform to the expansive RPG format, reflecting a strategic shift to explore diverse historical periods and settings in the Assassin’s Creed series.
