The original Beats Fit Pro earbuds were released three years ago. Even if the wingtips are intact, you may still be listening out for a successor.
The good news is that the Beats Fit Pro 2 release date is just around the corner, and the next-gen release will bring some much-needed new features and improvements.
The Beats Fit Pro 2 is the closest Apple, in collaboration with Beats, will come to delivering high-end fitness-oriented earbuds. Will the feature-rich upgrade be worth the wait?

What Are the Beats Fit Pro 2?
The Beats Fit Pro 2 earbuds are the successor to the much-praised Beats Fit Pro 1, released in November 2021.
Many users prefer the wing tips over Airpod-style in-ear buds, and the wings of the Beats Fit Pro are smaller than those of its big brother, Powerbeats Pro, earbuds which are also due an upgrade.
The original earbuds could be tracked through Apple’s “Find My” service and brought spatial audio, active noise cancellation, and a built-in microphone, all underpinned by the Apple H1 chip.
Beats Fit Pro 2 Release Date
Expected Release Date: Late 2024 / Early 2025
Beats has been fairly rigorous in updating its earbuds lines every two to every two and a half years, and we expect to see the Beats Fit Pro 2 release date in early 2025 at the latest.
Although there is no official release date, it’s worth highlighting that Apple and Beats discreetly removed older models of the previous headphones and earbuds, from their shopfronts in October 2024, as we explored while looking at the upcoming Powerbeats Pro 2.
This November marks three years since the first generation of workout earbuds, and with the recent removal of the earbuds from Apple stores, our money is on “sooner rather than later” — perhaps with a surprise release before the end of 2024.
We expect to get our hands on the highly anticipated Beats Fit Pro 2 in the next months.
Beats Fit Pro 2 Features
Heart Rate Monitoring, Custom EQ, Adaptive Transparency Mode, Better Battery
While the features of the upcoming Beats Fit Pro 2 remain in secrecy, it’s relatively easy to predict what we can expect by what’s missing from the three-year-old Beats Fit Pro fitness earbuds.
Heart Rate Monitoring
In 2024 and beyond, there will be little room for premium-priced fitness earphones that lack health-tracking capabilities. Beats Fit Pro 2 rumors suggest it will match the new Powerbeats Pro 2 and include heart rate monitoring. It will also be compatible with Apple Health and, we hope, Android smartphones.
Custom EQ
Sony, Bose, Jabra, and other competitors give users more control with custom EQ features in their earbuds. The problem with the Beats Fit Pro series is that it tries to please both Apple and Android fans — and even workout headphones have multiple uses.
Rather than just listening to music, we now use earbuds for podcasts, audiobooks, movies, and TV shows. Users could be listening to any of these in different environments, which makes custom EQ settings more important than ever.
Apple currently encourages iPhone users to use its Adaptive EQ technology. But we are waiting to see whether Apple will add EQ to the Beats app for Android users.
Adaptive Transparency Mode
Sure, the first-gen release of Beats Fit Pro comes with Apple’s Transparency mode, but things have improved with the release of new versions of the Adaptive Transparency mode, which controls the sounds of the outside environment along with what you are listening to.
Anyone in the market for a new pair of Beats Fit Pro 2 earbuds would expect Adaptive Transparency features as standard, so it is a no-brainer to include them.
Longer Battery Life & Wireless Charging
No matter how great the Beats Fit Pro 2 looks and sounds, the biggest frustrations with any pair of headphones are usually around running out of battery or struggling to secure a cheeky top-up charge without carrying around a cable.
We expect Beats to dramatically improve on the six hours of playback offered by the first generation of Beats Fit Pro. But more than anything, wireless charging and MagSafe compatibility are desperately needed to ensure the Beats Fit Pro 2 earphones are the upgrade that patient users deserve.
Considering branded wireless charging earbuds can now be found for as little as $75, it’s difficult to see how the Fit Pro 2 could justify a $200 price tag without these standard features.
Beats Fit Pro 2 Specs
H2 Chip, Smaller Case & Improved Durability
While we wait to see what Beats and Apple have been cooking up, here are both what we expect to see and what we hope to see in the upcoming model.
H2 Chip
Three years have passed since the first generation of Beats Fit Pro appeared with an H1 chip. A new Beats Fit Pro 2 with an H2 chip would be the most obvious upgrade from Apple to bring it in line with other new devices.
Durability & Smaller Case
Although many will focus on the technical aspects of the Beats Fit Pro 2 specs, from wireless charging to heart rate monitoring and custom EQ settings, the most important aspect for many will be the design itself.
Many heavy users of the first-gen Beats Fir Pro are already on the second and, in some cases, the third pair of earphones after the wingtip broke or began to peel away.
From a design point of view, we expect to see a more durable design for Beats Fit Pro 2 release that addresses these issues. A smaller case would also be a welcome addition.

Expected Beats Fit Pro 2 Colors
Black, White, Grey & Purple
The Beats Fit Pro 2’s price is expected to be in various colors similar to the black, white, grey, and purple seen in the first generation.
A leak for the Powerbeats Pro 2 tells us the sister range will come in Orange, Purple, Black, and Beige — perhaps the color scheme will spread?
With the nineties transparent tech revival in full swing, it is also possible we will see a transparent model like the Beats Studio Buds Plus.
Expected Beats Fit Pro 2 Price
$229
The Beats Fit Pro 2’s price is expected to be around $220 – $229, which is a slight increase on the first generation that was on sale for $199.
Optimistically, we might see the earbuds launch at the original price, but we expect a few new features and a general rise in prices over the past three years to lead to a slight increase.
The Bottom Line
There is a blend of anticipation and skepticism regarding future Beats releases. Some online feel that Apple might “crucify” the Beats range to prevent it from competing with the Apple AirPods line.
Others feel that Apple is positioning Beats in a fitness earbuds market that Apple needs to improve on.
The Beats Fit Pro 2 release represents an excellent opportunity for Apple to think bigger than its own devices with cross-platform workout-focused earbuds with enhancements closely aligned with the innovations seen in AirPods.
And we hope the earbuds also hear the needs of Android fans out there.
