Cadillac has ventured into sporting EV territory with its first performance EV, the 2026 Lyriq-V, coming to some markets early next year.
The performance electric SUV will be available in both left hand and right hand drive and will reportedly launch in the US, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia, with more markets to be announced at a later date.
As the V-Series, Cadillac’s performance sub-brand, celebrates its 20th anniversary, it seems to be shifting its focus from gas-powered vehicles like the CT5 towards EVs.
Cadillac says that its V-Series EVs will be “characterized by their exceptional performance, instantaneous acceleration, competitive range, and standard all-wheel drive.”
John Roth, vice president of Global Cadillac, called the Lyriq-V “a truly remarkable representation of the luxury, performance, and innovation prowess that are the foundations of the Cadillac brand.”
Cadillac teased the upcoming performance EV ahead of its 2025 launch with a video showing off the vehicle’s design. According to Electrek, it sports “more aggressive front and rear bumpers” and a larger air intake. It will also reportedly pack an estimated 515HP and 450lb-ft of torque.
There are no details as yet on prices and specs, but these can be expected closer to the launch date.
Meanwhile, sales of Cadillac’s regular Lyriq are booming. In the third quarter of 2024, General Motors, Cadillac’s parent company, delivered more than 7,200 Lyriq models in the US, a 139% increase over 2023.
