CD Projekt Red revealed in an announcement that Cyberpunk 2077 will land on Macs with Apple Silicon “early next year.”
The Ultimate Edition includes 2023’s Phantom Liberty expansion. It will be available to buy on the Mac App store, GOG.com, Steam, and the Epic Games store. Existing Steam purchases of the game will carry over to the Mac.
CD Projekt Red said it was “taking full advantage of Apple Silicon and the advanced technologies of Metal,” including path tracing, frame generation, and built-in spatial audio.
With the arrival of the Mac mini M4 with ray tracing, as well as much faster ray tracing on the iMac M4 and MacBook Pro M4, even more Mac owners will soon be able to enjoy Cyberpunk 2077’s stunning visuals.
A Buggy Start for Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 launched in 2020 but had a controversial release. Plagued with bugs, the game was pulled from Sony’s online store with players offered refunds. Microsoft, GameStop, and Best Buy quickly followed suit.
Initial reactions to the game were mixed, with many players left frustrated by bugged quests. Others took to social media to share amusing visual glitches.

However, the company aggressively tackled issues and released both the Phantom Liberty expansion and a matching 2.0 update in 2023. Those upgrades refined the mechanics and overall gameplay, including a revised perks system that better suits gamers’ play styles.
As such, the game is now in excellent shape and might be better-received by the first wave of Mac gamers.
