Former President Donald Trump used Bitcoin to pay for burgers and beers during an impromptu visit to a New York City venue on Wednesday evening.
Trump stopped off at PubKey, a Manhattan bar restaurant, ahead of campaigning in Long Island just two days after launching his new cryptocurrency platform known as World Liberty Financial.
He was helped to complete the payment, while he was also recorded saying, “Here this is a crypto burger. It’s a Bitcoin burger. Actually.”
It is unclear whose or which crypto wallet was used to make the transaction, or how much Bitcoin was involved. The payments are usually visible on a public ledger, but anonymous unless the user declares their wallet address.
In his third time running for office, Trump is continuing his overtures toward the crypto sector, following on from recent endeavors.

The launch of World Liberty Financial at Mar-A-Lago this week was described as “a state of crypto address”, hosted by industry investor Farokh Sarmad.
Trump’s sons Eric and Donald Jr were present at the event, where it was revealed WLF will use a non-transferable governance token called WLFI with plans to restrict participation to accredited investors.
He also joined a Spaces session on Elon Musk’s X, hosted on the World Liberty Financial account, to further discuss crypto.
