At the time of writing, Ghost of Yōtei pre-orders are not currently available. This is because no concrete release date has been announced yet. What is Ghost of Yōtei?
A long-awaited sequel to Ghost of Tsushima
Ghost of Yōtei is the highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima coming to the PS5.
It is an open-world action-adventure game set in Mount Yōtei, a mountainous region within Ezo, which is known as Hokkaido in present-day Japan. The area is stated to be located on the outer rim of Japan’s rule.
The Ghost of Yōtei story takes place in 1603, over 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. It features a new female protagonist, Atsu, who will take on the mantle of the Ghost in the stead of Jin Sakai – the previous protagonist.
The Ghost of Yōtei gameplay is likely to feature similar mechanics to Ghost of Tsushima: intense sword combat utilizing stances and time-based standoffs, as observed in the trailer (although this has yet to be confirmed).
The game will also feature stealth mechanics to contrast the samurai combat, including assassinations, trap deployment, and noise distractions. Potentially, the fear mechanic that comes with embracing the Ghost persona will return.
