Google Maps has partnered with SpotHero to make it easier for users to find and reserve parking spots.
The search giant announced the new feature within the app in an official blog post. It is designed to make parking less daunting when you arrive at a location. To make this possible, Google has partnered with SpotHero, a leading parking reservation service and the service is integrated into Google Maps and Search.
The service was first introduced in a limited way on Maps and Search earlier this year. Starting today, the feature is now available to everyone.
When using the new feature, find a parking spot near your destination and if a spot is available, the service will show a ‘Book Online’ button. Tapping on it will take the user to the SpotHero website where you can complete your booking. The process isn’t inconvenient as it avoids switching between apps and the website. Additionally, users can also reserve a parking spot in advance by adding date and time details. There are also filters like EV charging, wheelchair accessibility, valet services etc.
According to SpotHero, the parking spot service is available across 8,000 spots in 300 cities across the US and Canada.
Previously, Google Maps received a useful update that helps users find the entrance of a destination building and also report traffic issues like construction or police presence.
