Google is revamping the Google Meet design for Android and iOS, bringing features like live captions, emoji reactions, and more.
Google Meet is getting a completely new look and feel that aims to make it easier for users to start and receive video calls. Now, users will see a new calling interface when calling someone through Google Meet. It includes both audio and video call options, as well as a new option to send a message.
The changes enable users to send messages in both text and video formats, as well as notes and emoji reactions. Google introduced these changes to eliminate the differences caused by the Google Duo migration.
In addition to changing the look, Google is also aiming to make it easier for users to access advanced features in Google Meet. You can tap to enable live captions that now support more than 70 languages.
Users can apply different filters during meetings or even change locations by selecting a virtual background from the background list. Google is also unveiling emoji reaction support that will let users express themselves without interrupting the person speaking.
The screen sharing feature is also coming to Google Meet for both Android and iOS devices. This will let users share device screens and demonstrate their points.
The New On-the-Go Mode
In the situation where users need to join a meeting but can’t turn on their camera because they’re walking or in a vehicle. To help with this, Google Meet is introducing an On-the-Go mode. This feature will give users an audio-only experience with a user interface designed for this purpose.
In addition to all these changes, Google Meet is also getting a new call transfer feature that lets users move their video call to another device.
Google will gradually roll out this feature to Google Meet over the next few months. Users need to make sure you have the latest Google Meet update to get these features as soon as they’re available. Lastly, if one side of a call has this feature but the other doesn’t, the call will default to the old experience.
