Google has confirmed that the production of its Pixel 8 smartphone has begun in India.
In an X post on August 12, the company confirmed it has partnered with Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Information and Broadcasting of India, for the initiative.
Google has not yet confirmed its production partners for India. The report states that Google’s global manufacturing arm, Compal, has reportedly partnered with local manufacturing services (EMS) company Dixon Technologies for the production process.
As of now, it is still unclear whether the local production of the devices will significantly affect the pricing.
