Google launched its next-generation series of smartphones as part of its Made By Google event on August 13. 

The company released four new smartphones which include the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The devices come with updated chipsets, cameras, and next-generation AI features. Interestingly, there is a notable difference in the prices of the smartphones in India and the U.S.

The 256GB variant of the Pixel 9  is priced at $899 (approx Rs 75,462) in the U.S. However, in India, the same variant is priced at Rs 79,999 (approx $953.03). In India, the Pixel 9 Pro has been priced at Rs 109,999 (approx $1,310) for the 16GB RAM + 256GB variant. In the US, there are multiple options that users can choose from and the 256GB variant is priced at $1,099 (approx Rs 92,248).

In India, the Pixel 9 Pro XL’s 256GB variant is priced at Rs 124,999 (approx $1,490) and Rs 139,999 (approx $1,667) for the 512GB variant. In the U.S, these models are priced at $1,199 (approx Rs 100,641) and $1,319 (approx 110,714) respectively. In India, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will be available in only one variant. It is priced at  Rs 172,999 (approx $2,061) for the 16GB RAM/256GB storage model. For comparison, the variant is priced at $1,799 (approx Rs 151,004) in the U.S.

In light of the launch of the new devices, Google has announced a significant reduction in the prices of its previous generation Pixel phones in India.

Pixel 8 series: Prices slashed in India

The Pixel 8 series has seen notable price cuts, with the Pixel 8 128GB reduced from Rs 75,999 to Rs 71,999, and the Pixel 8 256GB from Rs 82,999 to Rs 77,999. The Pixel 8 Pro 128GB now costs Rs 99,999, down from Rs 106,999, and the Pixel 8 Pro 256GB has dropped from Rs 113,999 to Rs 106,999. Additionally, the more budget-friendly Pixel 8a models have also been discounted, with the 128GB variant now priced at Rs 49,999 from Rs 52,999 and the 256GB model at Rs 56,999, down from Rs 59,999. Lastly, the Pixel 7a 128 GB has seen a reduction from Rs 43,999 to Rs 41,999. These reductions reflect Google’s strategy to enhance the accessibility and competitiveness of its Pixel lineup in the Indian market.
