Google’s Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL Surface in Real-Life Photos

Key Takeaways

  • A leak appears to show the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro XL in addition to the already-spotted 9 Pro.
  • The redesigned camera unit and flat design mark significant changes from the Pixel 8 series.
  • Expected common features include a Tensor G4 chip, 120Hz AMOLED display, and Qi2 wireless charging.

A number of leaked images have made their way online, showing off the Google Pixel 9 and 9 Pro XL in addition to the previously-spotted 9 Pro. These images appear to confirm some of the previously leaked details of the Pixel 9 series.

The images were leaked by Rozetked, which claimed to have received them from an anonymous source.

As expected, the Pixel 9 appears to be the same size as the 9 Pro, just with a cut-down rear dual camera array and one less sensor. The Pixel 9 Pro XL, meanwhile, is a larger version of the 9 Pro. The two Pro models reportedly have matte backs with glossy frames, while the reverse is true for the base 9. All of them have flat bodies and ovoid camera bumps in place of the bars from past models.

The rumored specs are familiar but suggest a modest if welcome upgrade over the Pixel 8. You could expect Tensor G4 chips, more memory (12GB on the Pixel 9, 16GB on the Pro and Pro XL), and MagSafe-style Qi2 wireless charging. The regular 9 model wouldn’t include ultra-wideband, though.

These details are based on leaks and should be taken as speculation until explicitly confirmed by Google. It’s possible the company will preview the Pixel 9 lineup at the Google I/O conference today, although it might not ship until the fall.

Google is also believed to be introducing a Pixel Fold follow-up, possibly called the Pixel 9 Fold. It would share the G4 chip and other key features of the upcoming conventional smartphones, but would have a 6.4-inch outer screen as well as its namesake 7.9-inch folding internal display.
