Gundam Breaker 4 is the long-awaited sequel to 2016’s Gundam Breaker 3, and promises even more of what every Gundam fan craves. Let’s hop into the cockpit, power up our Beam Sabers, and get a full breakdown on Gundam Breaker 4 news before you preorder that expensive Collector’s Edition.
I may never live to see the day when Gundams are a reality, but I can at least live out my dreams through games.
Something about giant robots just works so perfectly in video game form. It could be the scale of the battles, the ability to fully customize and design your mech, or simply the fact that we all wish we had the chance to hop into the pilot seat.
There are dozens, or perhaps hundreds, of games that allow you to battle it out in the mech of your dreams, but there’s one franchise that is the grandfather of them all.
So let’s explore Gundam Breaker 4’s news, release date, trailer and everything we know in advance of the August release date.
What is Gundam Breaker 4?
Giant Robot Hack-and-slash
The Gundam Breaker series can be broken down into two main components: the battles and the customization.
Starting with the combat, you will take your personalized mech into various combat missions — either solo or in co-op with up to three friends. Each mech can now equip two different weapons that can create unique combos if executed correctly.
What we’ve seen of battles so far include waves of smaller mechs that you can blast through somewhat like a Warriors game, as well as giant boss battles against towering bots.
Besides simply destroying all the enemies to clear the mission, you will also be looking to break off parts of other Gundams to collect and use for yourself.
That leads us to what is arguably the more important part of Gundam Breaker 4 – the customization. This entry is taking the idea of designing and showing off your own Gundam to the next level.
The customizations of Gundam Breaker 4.
You can pick from over 250 base Gundam models to start with, but each one can be fully tweaked and changed however you like. Swap out everything from heads, arms, legs, and bodies to painting individual components.
Besides just looking cool in combat, Gundam Breaker 4’s Diorama Mode lets you build entire scenes to snap epic pics of your Gundam in a variety of backgrounds and poses.

Let battle commence! You will be able to swipe parts of fallen Gundams.
It splits its time between gameplay and showing off the seemingly limitless number of customization options with a heavy emphasis on the Diorama Mode.
If there is a story in Gundam Breaker 4, it isn’t even hinted at in the trailer.
Why Fans Are Excited for Gundam
Gundam is one of the biggest mecha franchises in the world, so it should come as no surprise that a new game would get fans excited. That said, what we see of the Gundam Breaker 4 gameplay and features look to be every mecha fan’s dream.
For fans of this series, being able to build, customize, paint, and pose your Gundam like you would a real toy is just as important as the gameplay. Gundam Breaker 4 understands that and is speaking directly to that audience with things like the new Diorama Mode.
