The upcoming Tycoon-style strategy game Hollywood Animal has a new trailer and an early access debut date, so players won’t have long to wait before diving into what looks to be a darkly funny movie-making experience.
Hollywood Animal’s glitz-meets-grit sim full of corrupt producers, trashy cinema, and cutthroat industry maneuvers is closer to release than ever, with the game’s early access release coming on January 16, 2025.
With genre pioneers Paradox Interactive cutting off its ventures in new directions and re-focusing on strategy sims, there could be a boom in this game style before long, and Hollywood Animal makers Weappy Wholesome are getting ahead of the curve.
While Hollywood Animal looks to be taking many cues from the Tycoon-style management sims of the past, it is also balancing out what can at times be a sterile, tense genre with a healthy dose of dark humor.
While it looks like the majority of paths to success in this game are paved with shady moves, devil’s bargains, production crunch, and image-inflating dirty deeds, it’s all delivered with tongue firmly in cheek.
Many games will see you constructing buildings and earning revenue. Still, few let you balance the ever-precarious books by banning long-term contracts, slashing budgets, and getting into bed with the mob.
Ahead of Hollywood Animal’s early access period, a new demo for the game will be released in December 2024. This demo will give players all the information and experience they need to decide whether to support the game in the run-up to its full release.
