Apple has unveiled iPadOS 18, a significant expansion of its tablet platform.
The new software borrows numerous features from iOS 18, including Apple Intelligence generative AI, more customizable home screen icon layouts and theming, and a redesigned Photos app. It also features a new floating tab bar that keeps content full screen without sacrificing access to navigation controls.
Calculator and Math Notes
This update will also be important when working with numbers. iPadOS 18 finally brings a calculator app to iPad and introduces hand-drawn Math Notes. You can jot down math expressions and quickly add graphs.

Handwriting Recognized by Smart Script
Smart Script, meanwhile, uses machine learning to recognize and refine your handwriting. It can correct spelling and clean up your work. You can even paste text and expect it to flow properly around images.

Availability
The developer beta of iPadOS 18 is available today, with a public beta coming in July. While many iPads will support the core software (such as the iPad 7th generation and newer), you’ll need at least an M1-based iPad to use Apple Intelligence.
