iRobot’s Matter-Enabled Roomba 10 Max Washes Its Own Mop

Why Trust Techopedia
Key Takeaways

  • iRobot has introduced the Roomba 10 Max, its most advanced robot vacuum and mop yet.
  • The 2-in-1 device comes with a self-cleaning dock that automatically washes mop pads.
  • It’s the first iRobot floor cleaner to be Matter enabled and is compatible with the Apple HomeKit ecosystem.

iRobot launched the Roomba 10 Max with Autowash Dock, its “best-cleaning, most intelligent and independent” robot vacuum and mop to date.

The highlight of this 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop is iRobot’s first Autowash Dock. Made with antimicrobial materials, it refills and charges the robot, washes and dries mop pads, refills mopping solution, automatically cleans the dock after every pad wash, and empties dirt and debris into the enclosed bag.

It holds up to seven days of water supply and up to 60 days of dirt and debris, so you’ll rarely need to clean the bot yourself. It’s also possible to set up a manual self-clean cycle, with the iRobot Home app reminding customers when a deeper clean is needed. Users can request that the mop pads be washed after cleaning specific areas of the home, such as the bathroom, to avoid tracking mess into other rooms.

iRobot’s chief product officer Barry Schliesmann called the Roomba Combo 10 Max the company’s “most complete solution” for scrubbing and vacuuming multiple surfaces, from hard floors to carpets.

iRobot’s Smart Cleaning Features For Hard Floors and Carpets

Designed to tackle dirt, debris, and pet fur, it offers a four-stage cleaning system with an Edge Sweeping Brush to get deep into corners and dual rubber brushes for different floor types. Carpet Boost automatically increases the robot’s suction when on carpets, while Smart Scrub provides two times deeper scrubbing, mopping back and forth when required.

There’s no need to worry about wet carpets when switching from mopping to vacuuming either thanks to DRI (Dry Rug Intelligence), which uses the Auto-Retract Mopping System to retract wet mop pads when carpet is detected.

The Roomba 10 Max is adept at spotting dirty floors thanks to iRobot’s Enhanced Dirt Detect Technology. Using the onboard camera, the robot vacuum pinpoints extremely dirty floors up to eight times more frequently and gives those areas a deeper clean, as you would do yourself.

Machine Learning for More Efficient Navigation

Finally, the Roomba 10 Max navigates your home more efficiently. PrecisionVision Navigation and iRobot OS alongside machine learning capabilities lets the robot vacuum smart map your home seven times faster. It auto-labels room types to make creating cleaning routines easier and analyzes past cleans to predict how clean a room is and prioritize rooms that are likely to be dirtier.

iRobot’s Pet Owner Official Promise (yes, POOP) ensures that the robot steers clear of pet accidents – or the company will replace it for free.

iRobot’s latest 2-in-1 vacuum and mop pairs with Google Assistant, Alexa, or Siri-enabled devices for voice control and will be Matter-enabled from the fourth quarter of 2024 as well as being compatible with the Apple Home ecosystem.

The Roomba 10 Max is on pre-sale now in the US and Canada from iRobot.com starting from $1,399. Shipping commences in August, when it will also be available from select retailers. It’s also on pre-sale in Europe, with availability in other markets coming soon.
