Mercedes-Benz has revealed a refreshed 2025 EQS whose highlight is a much-improved range.

The newly unveiled luxury electric sedan gets an estimated range of more than 510 miles (on the WLTP test cycle) in its EQS 450+ trim thanks to a larger 118kWh battery. The all-wheel drive EQS 450 4MATIC, meanwhile, jumps from over 445mi to 496mi due to the upgraded power pack. It’s more feasible to complete a long drive without recharging.

Updated regenerative braking software should also help recover more energy.

The 2025 EQS also includes more of the comforts and style associated with high-end Mercedes cars. The EV now has an upgraded rear with more adjustable executive seats and optional neck-and-shoulder heating. It also returns to the automaker’s classic look with an upright star logo and chrome trim.

A special Manufaktur Selection edition further improves the rear experience with in-seat air conditioning and a special Nappa leather look.

The 2025 model will otherwise seem familiar to existing EQS owners, although Mercedes has been making gradual refinements to the car since its debut. The three-display Hyperscreen is now standard on all trim levels, as is a heat pump that improves efficiency in cold weather.

The upgraded EQS will be available in some markets starting April 25th, although Mercedes only promised a US launch sometime “later in 2024.” Prices aren’t changing in Europe, but it’s not clear if that will remain true for American buyers.

The improvements may be necessary given the intensifying competition. Lucid Motors’ Air sedan offers up to 516mi of range, while challengers like the Porsche Taycan (now up to 379mi) and BMW iX (380mi) have closed some of the gap. The 2025 EQS could help Mercedes draw customers who crave a strong battery from an established brand.
