Atlus has rolled out a demo for Metaphor: ReFantazio, giving fans an early look at its Persona-like fantasy JRPG ahead of the official release on October 11.
The demo, which began its staggered global release earlier today, allows players to experience the game’s opening sequence, with progress transferable to the full version.
Currently available in regions like Japan, Korea, and Hong Kong on PlayStation and Xbox, the demo will soon be accessible worldwide, including on Steam.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is the latest project from Studio Zero, a subsidiary of Atlus and the team behind Persona 5. The studio announced the demo on X (formerly Twitter) earlier today.

The game marks a departure from the school setting of the Persona series, venturing into a medieval fantasy world while retaining familiar elements like turn-based combat and rich character development.
Early hands-on previews suggest the game draws on Atlus’s signature style, combining intricate gameplay mechanics with a fresh narrative approach.
The demo is designed to offer players a substantial introduction to the game, with some reporting a file size of up to 59.3GB on Xbox.
Although the demo focuses primarily on the prologue, it offers enough content to give players a sense of the scope and depth Metaphor promises, with the full game reportedly offering around 100 hours of gameplay, comparable to Persona 5.
