Microsoft has announced major changes coming to the Microsoft Store, including an entirely new downloads page, a search bar on the library page, and an updated Microsoft Store badge.

By default, the Microsoft Store does not show apps you own that have not been downloaded to your computer on the library page. This can lead to users forgetting about purchased apps, which can be a real problem, especially if you spend money on them. However, the August 2024 update for the Microsoft Store will change this by defaulting the library page to show both installed and owned apps.

The next significant change this update is bringing is the addition of a search bar to the Library page. This will let users quickly search for any app instead of scrolling through a long list of all the apps installed on your device. Microsoft is also removing the updates & downloads section from the library page and creating a dedicated page.

Currently, when you access the library page, you see the updates & downloads section at the top, followed by the list of all installed apps. After the update, you will see a new downloads page in the left sidebar of the Microsoft Store, where you can manage ongoing downloads and update installed apps. A key part is that each app update will now have a version note, so you know what changes the update will bring.

Microsoft has also updated the Microsoft Store badge to read “Download from the Microsoft Store” instead of “Get it from Microsoft.” This is a small change, but it will give you more confidence in acquiring your app.

You can try out these features with Windows Insiders on the Canary and Dev channels. If you are not enrolled in the Insider channels, Microsoft will push the update to everyone soon on Windows 11 version 22407.xxxx.x and higher.
