Marvel Mystic Mayhem is an upcoming NetEase RPG with a supernatural, sorcerous bent, featuring comic heroes forced to face fearsome foes.
Marvel Mystic Mayhem will feature the rise of the supervillain Nightmare, casting teams of three heroes into battles set in dreamlike dungeons containing their worst fears.
While much of its gameplay remains under wraps, Mystic Mayhem’s announcement trailer comes with a couple of glimpses of combat, with its characters taking down squads of nightmarish enemies.
The trailer also contains a sneak peek at some of the fan-favorite Marvel heroes like Iron Man, Moon Knight, and the Scarlet Witch who you’ll be able to recruit to your squad.
NetEase and Marvel’s gaming partnership is proving extremely fruitful, with Mystic Mayhem’s announcement coming before Marvel Rivals’ full release on December 6, 2024, and following on from Marvel Duel and Marvel Super War.
Where Marvel Rivals is gaining ground on Overwatch 2, Apex Legends, and other leaders in the hero shooter genre, Marvel Mystic Mayhem is taking on another fairly well-saturated gaming field: tactical mobile RPGs.
The big advantage that Marvel has over other games attempting to break into either of these crowded fields is the strong personalities and immediate recognisability of its characters, and NetEase is playing to those strengths.
By focusing its output on genres that place characters – and character customization – at the center of the action, players using the MCU as an on-ramp and lifelong comic book lovers alike have plenty of reason to dive into Mystic Mayhem, Marvel Rivals, and more.
