College football fans, your time has finally come. NCAA Football was once an annual release alongside Madden that let us experience the thrills of college games on consoles. However, after NCAA Football 14, not a single official college football game was released.
NCAA Football 25 ends the 11-year dry spell after EA settled all the disputes between the NCAA and college athletes, bringing the series back.
NCAA Football 25, or College Football 25, is bringing college football back to gamers in the biggest and best way possible. The official EA Sports X account said it better than I could: “For those who never stopped believing…College Football is coming back.”

Before you call your play and make the snap, I’m calling a time-out to give you a rundown on College Football 25.
What is NCAA Football 25?
College Football at its Finest
Like its professional counterpart, Madden, College Football 25 is a college football simulation. Originally called NCAA Football, the series has been rebranded under EA but includes all the things fans are looking for.
In College Football 25, 134 school teams will be included, and every player, jersey, logo, and stadium will be faithfully recreated.
One of the original reasons the original NCAA games were abandoned was the fact that college players were not being paid for their likenesses.
Rather than include random players or schools to get around this, EA has decided to compensate every player to include them in the game.
Alongside modern advancements to football simulation, like fatigue for players over time and home-field advantages, College Football 25 will include a Dynasty mode, where you create your own coach to manage a team, a Road To Glory mode, where you live out the life of a new player aiming for the Heisman, and more.
That’s just scratching the surface of all the ways you can play College Football 25 — either alone or online.

When Does NCAA Football 25 Come Out?
Official Release: July 19, 2024
NCAA Football 25 will come out on July 19, 2024. That’s right around the corner, so clear your schedule if you haven’t already.
What Consoles/Platforms Will NCAA Football 25 be Available on?
Confirmed: Current Consoles
College Football 25 will be available on either PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S. At this time, no last-gen or PC ports have been confirmed.
NCAA Football 25 Trailers
The reveal trailer for College Football 25 was a revelation for fans of NCAA who had been waiting for a true return to form. The sight of actual player names on jerseys was enough to excite the core fanbase, but the core gameplay only added fuel to the fire.
Hardcore fans were given a steady feed of deep-dive trailers to learn what makes College Football 25 the best football simulation yet.
The basic gameplay trailer provides a good overview, as well as the sights and sounds and dynasty trailers, which provide more specific looks at features and modes.
The NCAA Football 25 gameplay trailer might be the most exciting of them all. Cover athlete Donovan Edwards sits down to play a real game and comments on the realism and experience of playing.
Why Fans Are Excited
College football itself is arguably just as popular as the pro league, and yet we haven’t had a true NCAA game since NCAA Football 14 in 2013. While Madden occasionally put in a few college teams, it couldn’t get the entire league or use real player names or likenesses.
NCAA Football 25 will be the first authentic college football game in over a decade, and it knows how important the details are. All the college athletes are being paid so their likenesses and numbers can be used.
Senior producer of College Football 25 Travis Hunter said he recognizes how much seeing real names means to fans and players.
“If you’ve been at one of those schools, you know what it means to be a fan of that college or a student of that school. Whatever ties you to it, the moment you turn the game on, you go, ‘Whoa, they know they know me’.
“They know my school, they know our team, they know everything that makes this special in a way that is so enthralling and engaging that it’s not just ‘I’m playing a football game that represents college football teams,’ but it actually feels like way more than that.”

The Bottom Line
At long last, college football fans have a game with the quality of Madden but the authentic look and feel of college football.
College Football 25 took a long time to make a comeback, and had to give up the NCAA Football name, but keeps the legacy of that series alive.
In case this is a thing the TL cares about, the streets are telling me that the final "opt-in" athlete numbers for EA CFB 25 were "over 12,800"…which is obviously well, well above the total number of roster slots.
Folks don't need to worry about athletes not being in the game
— Matt Brown (@MattBrownEP) May 9, 2024
With all 134 FBS teams included and over 12,800 players agreeing to have their likeness and numbers used in the game, NCAA Football 25 looks to be college football’s triumphant return to gaming.
