Netgear has announced three new Wi-Fi 7 routers, including an affordable option and those with tri-band support.
Wi-Fi 7 is fairly new and, hence, exclusive to a small set of routers. The exclusivity has led to exorbitant prices for the faster and more efficient tech, with the most inexpensive Wi-Fi 7 routers starting around $250 on average with few sub-$100 exceptions.
To make these features more accessible and drive adoption, Netgear has just announced new Wi-Fi 7 routers under its Nighthawk series across price segments, with the lower-end model starting at just $229.
The demand for Wi-Fi 7 will likely soar as it becomes more widely supported with devices such as the iPhone 16 series and Android flagships with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, including the Galaxy S24 series and OnePlus 12. The following Netgear Wi-Fi 7 routers can be useful to people either upgrading to or already using one of these devices.
Netgear Nighthawk RS200
The Nighthawk RS200 is the most attractively priced model among Netgear’s new batch of Wi-Fi 7 routers. It sits right under the Nighthawk RS300, announced earlier this year, but with fewer features. The Nighthawk RS200 only facilitates up to 6.5Gbps of speed and is suitable for internet connections with speeds of up to 500Mbps and coverage of up to 2,500 square feet.
It has two Ethernet ports for transfers up to 2.5Gbps and three ports for up to one gigabit each. Compared to the RS300, it supports fewer concurrent devices at just 80. It only runs 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands while lacking support for 6GHz, making it the only dual-band router in Netgear’s Nighthawk Wi-Fi 7 lineup.
Netgear Nighthawk RS500 and RS600
The Nighthawk RS500 and RS600 are located between the older RS300 and the flagship RS700S. While the RS500 can run up to 12 gigabit connections, the RS600 can run up to 18 gigabits. Both are tri-band routers, though the RS600 supports up to 150 simultaneous connections, compared to 120 on the RS500.
The RS600 also comes with two 10-gigabit Ethernet ports and three ports with a maximum output of 1 gigabit. The RS500, on the other hand, has three standard gigabit Ethernet ports and two more for 2.5Gbps connections. Both of these cover roughly 3,000 square feet, though the RS600’s network is likely more robust.
- RS200: $229.
- RS500: $399.
- RS600: $499.
All three Nighthawk Wi-Fi 7 routers come with a complementary 30-day trial of Netgear Armor, which runs Bitdefender’s antivirus and VPN services right off the routers and supposedly uses AI to fend off threats.
These Wi-Fi 7 routers from Netgear are immediately available at major offline and online retailers and Netgear’s online store.
