The announcement followed the Grand Festival event.
Since launching on September 9, 2022, Nintendo has regularly updated Splatoon 3. The game’s largest Splatfest, a 72-hour event from September 13 to 16, 2024, marked the end of two years of Splatfests.
Support for the predecessor, Splatoon 2, lasted about two years, with its final major update in July 2019.
Splatoon 3 was briefly Nintendo’s fastest-selling game in Japan before being surpassed by Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The Splatoon 3: Side Order DLC was released on February 22, 2024.
When to Expect the Next Installment of the Game
With Splatoon 3 wrapping up, a new installment might be some time away, particularly since the same development team works on Animal Crossing.
Recently, Nintendo announced that Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp will shut down on November 28, 2024, ending its seven-year run. A new version is in development, which will be paid, not require constant internet access, and will not include in-app purchases. More details will be announced in October 2024.
Nintendo fans are eagerly awaiting the Switch 2‘s release date, with leaks suggesting an early 2025 launch.
